What To Expect

Your full-day electric bike tour departs in the morning from Vieux Port (Old Port). Before taking off, your local guide will offer a safety introduction to the intuitive and easy electric bike. Fit with pedals and a small motor to propel you forward, this modern ride allows you to see more of Marseille and the surrounding region in less time.

First, head south out of Marseille along Corniche Kennedy, catching scenic views of the village of Vallon des Auffes, Prado Beach and Madrague Montredon. You’ll disembark in the quaint town of Les Goudes for some independent exploring. Wander the secluded village and watch fishing boats drift through the cove. Enjoy a lunch (payable directly to restaurant; see sample menu below) or grab some food of your own.

Hop back on your bike and wind farther south through the wild and dramatic Calanques region. Admire the distinctive limestone rock formations – called the ‘fjords of the French Riviera’ – that wrap around pools of crystal-clear water to make dramatic inlets. Stop at La Plage de la Maronaise (Maronnaise Beach) for an invigorating swim, before heading on to the stunning Calanque de Callelonque (Callelongue Cove). Here, watch small boats drift in and out of the cove and locals lounge on the beach.

To end, you’ll return to Marseille to explore some of city highlights including green spaces like Parc Borély or Campagne Pastré – two lovely public parks – and the magnificent Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde, a Neo-Byzantine Catholic church perched atop Marseille’s highest peak. Enjoy panoramic views of the Marseille’s labyrinthine streets below, the sparkling Mediterranean Sea and the bustling Old Port.

Follow your guide back down the hill to the starting point, where your tour ends by late-afternoon.

We had an amazing day out during our bike tour to the Calanques. Iris was an excellent guide and the bikes were a breeze to operate. A highlight of our trip to Marseille for sure. Would highly recommend this tour.

E-Bike Fun
Gayelee_D, Apr 2024
Cindy was an excellent guide. We enjoyed the scenery and the beauty of the coastline and National Park. Riding e-bikes made the entire experience wonderful as there are very steep hills.
Great tour
Juan_R, Apr 2024
Excellent trip. It helped that weather was perfect. Our guide was Luan. He’s very nice and took very good care of us. I highly recommend this trip if you’re in Marseille.

Beautiful Marseilles
Deanna_H, Feb 2024
We absolutely loved this experience. Our guide Lucy was fabulous. She was a wealth of information and had great passion for Marseilles. The weather was perfect and the views were unforgettable. We highly recommend this experience.
You need to do this tour
Peg_H, Jan 2024
Loved this tour. This was our 2nd best tour of our whole 10 day trip. Our butts were a bit sore after, but the views, the breeze, the exercise, the tour guide were all great! Be warned, the bikes are electric, but you do have to pedal and if not used to a bike, it may be difficult for you to get up hills (of which there were MANY). Got to see so much! Would definitely do again.
Perfect thing to do in Marseille
Shauna_S, Oct 2023
This was a fantastic tour! Picked us up right in front of the ship and brought us back on time. The bikes were great, fast and comfy seats for a long ride. This was a full day adventure with gorgeous views and a little off road riding. Never a dull moment and super fun. Feel like we saw it all with Stephan. Highly reccomend!
Highly recommend
Lisa_M, Oct 2023
Excellent tour. Nice variety if suits along the way. Excellent tour guide. She was very knowledge, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this tour!
Excellent way.
Stephen_T, Sep 2023
It was so nice. Our guide Stephan was very knowledgeable and took us all the way through the city and then to the southern shore of Marseille. The climb to the Notre Dame church is 7/10 difficult climb with the help of the electric bike. The food was excellent.
The only problem I had...
Renie_N, Sep 2023
The only problem I had was that Lucy our guide had a strong accent and I didn’t always understand her.
Response from Host, Sep 2023
Hello, this is because you have a real local guide.
Must do tour!!!
Tina_G, Sep 2023
Absolutely must do! This tour was amazing. Stefan was excellent tour guide, we saw some amazing sites in Marseille. If you love exploring outside of a bus and can physically ride a bike, DO THIS TOUR!!
Biking through town
Ashley_M, Aug 2023
This was a great way to see the sites and town. We stopped a few times on the way to the National Park. We rode along a bike path and busy streets. We stopped for lunch and ate in a local park (so bring Euros). Knowledge of how to ride an e-bike is not necessary if you listen to the guide before the tour begins. We felt safe and had a fantastic time.
Great Bike Tour
Elyse_R, Aug 2023
Our tour guide Raphy (not sure if that's the correct spelling) gave us a great tour of Marseille along the coast and up to the bascillica. It was an easy ride and a very relaxing afternoon.
Response from Host, Aug 2023
Raphy is excellent yes !
Super Tour de Marseille
Kristen_L, Jul 2023
Emmanuel was not easy to reach from the states prior to the trip but I think this was related to the time difference. Do not let this deter you! This was many of our favorite excursions during our travels. Cindy our guide was awesome. The e-bikes were great and it is a super way to see the sights around marseille. We even had the opportunity to swim at the calanques. This is highly recommended for those of you who want an adventure/active day trip.
Wear a helmet…
Samantha_L, Jul 2023
Very beautiful place and lovely guide; Marine was wonderful. Biking in Marseille is not for the faint of heart: the roads are not great, you’re biking in the street with cars, and the electric bikes are VERY powerful. If you have not ridden an electric bike before and are understanding of their power I would not go on this tour. I ran into a pole going 30 km per hour and gashed my leg and knee. I was so shaken up from the speed of the fall I could not finish the tour. Thankfully I was wearing a helmet. Please do not do this tour without a helmet. I don’t understand why 75% of my group opted for no helmet on a bike that goes over 30 km an hour. Another guide Martin came to bike with me back to the starting point. He was also very kind and helpful during my situation.
Response from Host, Jul 2023
Madam, I am absolutely sorry for what happened to you and the fright you felt. However, I remain cautious about leaving us 1 star when we have done our best to assist you. We are not responsible for the fact that you fell off your bike, especially if you had a phone in your hand at the time. For information, our bikes cannot go more than 25km/h, and it is rare that we ride at this pace. As for the other band members, if they don't want to wear helmets, that's their business. I admit, however, that we were relieved to remove you from our group as your behavior was disrespectful and even insulting towards the other members of the group.
Awesome family e-bike tour
Clare_G, Jul 2023
Beautiful swim in national park. Kids enjoyed trailer ride behind e-bike. Hard work getting up the hill to the Notre Dam with the trailer but the view and church were worth it. We were given the choice not to go up the hill but we took up the challenge. Guide was great with our kids.
Hope you like to pedal long distances in dangerous traffic
John_S, Jul 2023
First of all our guide Raffy was great but….the electric bikes require pedaling to move and we pedaled for 27 miles!!! The bikes are pedal assist, not self propelled and get tiring especially uphill. They allowed a 10 year old girl to go on the tour with her mother even though it is against their rules and the poor girl fell at least three times. Riding through the crazy heavy traffic in downtown Marseilles was very dangerous and difficult especially without any bike paths! There were many times that the group had to pedal in single file with traffic on the left, the curb on the right, and about two foot wide space to pedal your bike! Apparently restrooms are rare and on the tour the only option was a hole in the ground at a Turkish toilet. The beach area that we finally reached in the nature preserve was very beautiful but all rocks. Make sure you bring water shoes with you to navigate the sharp slippery rocks. After 5 hours on the bikes our nether regions were very sore and we looked forward to ending the tour.
Response from Host, Jul 2023
Good morning Thanks for your feedback. If you had taken as much time to read the description of the tour as to write your review, you would have understood that you have to pedal continuously on the route, that it is 35km long and that you have to know how to ride a bike at near cars on the road. How do you think the trick is dangerous? This may be your feeling and we are sorry, because in fact, the number of accidents is extremely low. There are bike lanes halfway the way, but you must have overlooked that fact.
Marine’s the best!
Jamie_B, Jul 2023
We had such a great time on our tour. Our guide, Marine was so great. She was funny and knowledgeable. She took us to great places where we got beautiful photos. Biking around the town was very enjoyable and allowed us to see great parts of the city. The beach see took us to was crystal clear, cool and so beautiful! I’m so glad I took this tour.
Not up to scratch.
Heather_E, Jul 2023
The communication wasn't great, the tour that we booked and was confirmed at the time of booking was for 9am but we didn't leave until 9.50am. We had a couple of incidents with the bikes including swapping one of the bikes and then the replacement bike got a flat tyre which held us up for about an hour. On a tour like this where you are in heavy traffic you need a tour guide at the front as well as one at the back for obvious safety reasons and to make sure everyone is accounted for. We had a group of 9 and our tour guide would often be a long way ahead, we had to stop several times and wait because not everyone travels at the same speed. I personally felt that our giide did not pay enough attention to everyone's safety. We stopped at a bakery for lunch, the rolls and salads on offer were lovely, we chose to have our lunch there, sitting outside at picnic tables in the shade as opposed to eating it in full sun (with no shade anywhere) on a rocky beach. Our guide suggested a toilet stop at the Basillica but the lines there were very very long. My suggestion for an improved tour would be firstly to have a 2nd guide at the back and to incorporate a couple of toilet stops other than the Basilica where you have to spend most of your time in a queue for the rest rooms instead of time outside enjoying the view and getting pictures. My bike went fine for most of the tour but the part that I really needed it to work unfortunately the motor didn't kick in and I had to get off and push the bike up the last section. This is not a tour I would repeat
Response from Host, Jul 2023
Hello, it is clearly written on the voucher time of pick up may change. 10 years of experience in this activity show 9 people on a tour is a small group. If you want a tour with more than 1 stop for toilets, and a perfect speed for your party, please choose a private tour If you need shade on a wild beach, please bring your own umbrella If you want to avoid flat tires on a bicycle, choose a walking tour.. And If you want to skip crowded lines, travel on low season You are not guests i would repeat to get on our tour.
Great way to see Marseille
Richard_M, Jul 2023
First of all, this tour was a lovely way to see Marseille. We opted for the full day tour. However, I caution those who are not comfortable on a bicycle. Most of the tour was along narrow and busy city streets. While drivers do look out for the bicycles, they often get very close. That being said, we LOVED this tour and my teenage daughters (14 and 19) say it was the best tour they have ever been on. I don’t think I would have wanted my child any younger than that to do this tour. Cindy was amazing. She was knowledgeable and kind. She took us to the national park and found a breathtaking view for us to have our picnic lunch. I would highly recommend it as long as you are comfortable biking on busy streets.
Fun way to see Marseille
David_T, Jul 2023
Fun bike ride. Sly was a good guide and made the trip a lot of fun. Lunch was delicious and we made some friends from our ship. For those wondering it was about a 25 mile ride but the electric bikes made it very manageable for all riders in our group.
