Overview

Learn to scuba dive and explore the underwater world around Maui with this private intro to scuba diving course for groups of up to four people. After learning more about your gear and scuba diving, accompany your instructor on an open water dive in the Pacific Ocean, where you can look for turtles, tropical fish, and other marine wildlife.

    I’ll inform each group of our dive location on the morning of the dive or sooner. Unless specifically requested, most of our dives will occur on the west side (Lahaina area) but we also offer dives on the south side near Kihei/Wailea, all the way to La Perouse Bay.

  • Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
  • Must be a strong swimmer
  • Able to carry a minimum of 45lbs for a distance
  • After diving you must wait 18 hours to fly or ascend to 1,000 feet+
  • Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
  • Must be Age 10+
  • This is a private tour/activity. Only your group will participate

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

  • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Worst experience ever

Absolute horrible experience, the company stood me up. I waited for them and they never returned my calls/texts/emails. They ruined a day of my vacation. DO NOT GO HERE AT ALL, SAVE YOUR TIME. Viator was of no help getting my money back. Truly bad experience.
West Maui Excursions was a no show.

The guide did not call or show up for this excursion. We waisted a full day of our vacation and never got to go scuba diving. Terrible experience!

Very unenjoyable experience. We met at the designated spot to meet our scuba guide at the time and place provided and the guide never showed up. No one could get in touch with him, and an hour later he finally contacted me with an excuse as to why he couldn’t make it after we had already wasted an hour of our vacation. On the other hand, Viator and their staff were very helpful and gave a full refund immediately.

Matt was a great instructor, first time diver friendly. He made us feel comfortable with all the equipment on land and eased us into the ocean to make us more comfortable. The dive was beautiful and Matt showed us some great aquatic animals.

Matt the Instructor was full of aloha and made the experience awesome through his enthusiasm and knowledge . Very friendly and made us feel comfortable from the very beginning of the experience. Highly recommend to anyone willing and able to scuba. Great time and experience. Mahalo.
