Your exact meeting time will be provided after a booking is placed. This tour returns to Melbourne at approximately 9pm-12am depending on the season.

What To Expect

Depart Melbourne in the morning via Westgate Bridge, the longest bridge in Australia, with sweeping views of the city and Port Phillip Bay.

Pass Geelong, Victoria’s second-largest city, as you make your way towards the Surf Coast known for lovely beachside towns and powerful surf. During a short stop in Anglesea, stretch your legs by strolling along the Anglesea River before continuing your scenic journey.

Soak in the breathtaking coastal scenery of the Great Ocean Road as you drive and during frequent scenic stops, including a photo op at Eastern View where the Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch stretches over the road.

Have time to purchase lunch in Kennet River or Lorne. Afterward, take a walk through a wilderness refuge with eucalyptus trees that shelter wild koalas. Look for the koalas in the trees napping or munching on leaves—the large population of koalas virtually guarantees multiple sightings.

Continue by coach through the Otway Ranges to the Shipwreck Coast and Port Campbell National Park. There you see iconic rock formations starting with Loch Ard Gorge. Hear the story of the shipwreck at Loch Ard in 1878 and view other rock formations with amusing names such as Dumpling Pots, Razorback, and Island Archway. Then head to the Twelve Apostles before sunset to watch the sky change colors over the majestic rock formation.

On the return to Melbourne, expect a stop in the town of Colac for dinner (own expense).

This was an awesome tour all around. The scenery at the Twelve Apostles and other nearby stops is stunning and to experience it at sunset is simply magical. Our tour guide Israel was a perfect source of information, history and entertainment for us throughout the tour. And he had a good taste in music and knew some good jokes too! All in all I'd say this is probably the best tour you can do from Melbourne and I simply can't recommend it enough.

This tour was one of the most beautiful things i have ever experienced! The booking, pickup and the tour itself were easy to organize and definitely worth the money. Our tour guide Aaron was a very enthusiastic guide and with his funny manner, he made the tour unforgettable. He always shared his knowledge about fascinating facts about the trip and it was really interesting to follow. Despite the long drive, we took enough breaks where you also have the opportunity to buy food! We stopped at Anglesea, Kennett River, a lookout point, loch ard gorge as well as the twelve apostels right during sunset! I would recommend this tour to everyone!

Long day but worth it

The guide Camil was very friendly and gave a great commentary. It is a long day as we did not get back into Melbourne until 11pm. The trip was great and fortunately it stayed dry. The scenery was spectacular. I highly recommend this trip.

Great sunset tour

Worth the long ride along the cost. Please note the pick up time is between 10-11am, and the drop off time is midnight in the Summer (in February). We didn’t know about this but had no plans after the tour, so we had no issues. Sunset was at 8:20pm. The sunset was wonderful but a little too crowded. It was also cold, so remember to bring a jacket. We left around 9pm, because we were waiting for penguins to come out after the sun sets. The penguins are barely visible (they are tiny and it’s too dark) but the views were breathtaking. One thing I would recommend is less bathroom breaks and a longer lunch time to explore one of the charming towns along the coast. We barely had time to eat and use the restroom (1 hour). We loved Bill as a guide; he was very informative and funny.

The views of the Great Ocean Road were so gorgeous that some of my photos don't even look real because they're too beautiful! Our guide,Emily, was amazing! She drove and made frequent stops which helped break up the drive. She was very informative and also kept us entertained by playing songs by famous Australian artists and telling stories about them. I highly recommend this tour.

Fabulous scenery with Damian!

Damian was amazing! He kept us entertained with great storytelling and music as we traveled this fantastically beautiful coastline. We saw a koala in its natural habitat and enjoyed Loch Ard Gorge, Gibson Steps and the 12 Apostles. Damian had us stay later and we saw 2 colonies of penguins-simply fabulous!

It’s a great way to discover Australia. The journey winds along the coast. The guide (Kiwi Chris) expertly drove while explaining the history of how the road was built but the soldiers that returned form WWI. The views are spectacular at various points. While food is not provided, the meal breaks are at places where you can buy your own food at a decent price. There is a 50% chance you’ll actually see the sunset. The only drawback is the inefficient way of picking up and delivering the passengers with a far from optimised root.

The sunset at the 12 Apostles was awesome. Luckily the sun came out . It was overcast and cold when we started. Hilda was awesome ( there were a few disgruntled fellow travelers who were NOT happy with the seats). More legroom should be provided. Only saw one little, itty-bitty koala way, way up in the eucalyptus.

We toured the Great Ocean road on Aug. 3rd and were lucky to have beautiful weather. Our tour guide was wonderful and shared a lot of great information and stories about the area.

Comparing to the penguin tour, it was a bit of a let down. Since it was raining and cloudy it makes no sense to be there by sunset. We would prefer to be there an hour early to see the 12 apostles in daylight rather than having pointless/ uninteresting stops in between.

As it is impossible to be entirely sure of what the weather will do, it would be incredibly irresponsible of us to not be at the 12 Apostles for sunset when this is the advertised point of the tour. Imagine if there was a break in the clouds/weather and a spectacular sunset happened and we weren't there for it! This does happen (not infrequently) and we can only imagine how angry our guests would be if we decided to give it a miss. We're sorry that the weather meant that the reviewer's tour wasn't as enjoyable as they might have hoped, but it's pretty unusual to have any stops on the Great Ocean Road described as "pointless".
