What To Expect

Your full-day adventure begins in the early morning with hotel pickup in a comfortable minivan. Relax on the drive to Lake Mountain resort, a popular weekend getaway for Melburnians. You’ll have a chance to purchase breakfast at a stop along the way.

Your guide will orient you to the layout of the resort, which encompasses 23 miles (37 km) of cross-country ski trails, plus open meadows and toboggan hills. Decide how you’d like to spend your time at Lake Mountain, whether it’s gliding across powder on cross-country skis, sliding on a toboggan, or simply building a snowman. Ski lessons, snow gear, and equipment rentals are available at the resort (own expense).

Purchase a meal at the resort’s on-site café for lunch, and then depart for Steavenson Waterfalls in the early afternoon. Enjoy a guided nature walk to the viewing platform where five different cascades plunge through the forest to the rocky pools below. With a total drop of nearly 400 feet (122 m), Steavenson is one of Victoria's tallest falls.

Continue on to the charming Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery to satisfy your sweet tooth. Explore tables piled high with more than 150 kinds of chocolate and sample house-made cocoa goodies and ice cream. You might be tempted to purchase treats to take home, such as boxed truffles, single-origin bars, and chocolate-covered nuts.

Relax after your adventure on the return drive to Melbourne, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel in the early evening.

This trip is a good for those who don’t know where to go. The trip was great. You got around 30 mins to spend at the cafe to get the breakfast. The road along the way to the lake mountains was amazing with nice view. Lake mountains was great and fun. Steavenson Falls was beautiful but we only have 15-20 mins to spend there. Visiting Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery was good, a lot of good chocolates choices to choose and the view surrounding was amazing. I would recommend it for anyone who unsure about where to go and not confident to drive around. Overall I enjoyed and having a good time with the trip.

Not too bad with some disappointments

The waterfall was nice, and the ice cream at chocolate factory was yummy 😋 We are also thankful for our guide (was it John? Sorry couldn't quite remember 😅) who was friendly and humourous. He gave clear instructions and good recommendations too! Unfortunately, there was already no snow at the lake mountain, thus, the hours there became long and dreary. And it was disappointing because we thought that would have been the highlight of the day tour.

Super fun snow day

We travelled from Queensland to give our littlest niece a snow day as she's been obsessed with snow and never seen it. Until now. The tour was perfectly paced, the driver was informative and friendly and shared his local knowledge. Our stops at Beechworth, Stevens Falls and the Yarra Valley Chocolate Factory were really interesting, but of course the main event was the snow experience at Lake Mountain. This was absolutely sensational, well priced and the best fun. All up we had three hours on the mountain which was the perfect around of time to toboggan, build a snowman and marvel at the winter wonderland. We were also fortunate to arrive while it was snowing, to complete the winter experience. We absolutely loved it and while it was a big day, it was absolutely worth it.

Not real snow

The trip wasn't good for us as we wanted to enjoy real snow. The Waterfall and chocolate shop was rushed. Depending on the schedule, the time at lake mountain can be adjusted to enjoy a hot drink at the chocolate shop. Thanks for Dandy trying to keep the journey alive.

Comfortable coach & fun activity

The coach was very comfortable and on time. We really had a great time even there's no snow the day we went up there (it's a faux snow at Lake Mountain). It was still very fun day. We only got around 30 mins at the waterfall and chocolate shop which is pretty short so it's a bit rush.

I did not like the ski centre as it was too crowded, no table to sit and eat, no coffee machine. I liked the self service, just grab a food and pay

Transport service, not a tour. Not worth the money at all.

This tour was booked for the mentioned itinerary which consisted of 3 parts - Lake Mountain, Chocolate and Waterfall visit. However, only 1/3 of the itinerary was fulfilled. The bus departed on time at our pickup point and we were suggested to head straight to Lake Mountain instead of stopping by Stevenson waterfalls first because it was raining. Hence, we were taken to Lake Mountain to enjoy the snow fun for 3 hours. Everyone on board returned at the time given to us but the bus departed late. We were driven to Stevenson waterfall and as we were about to reach, we were told that we will not be able to make it for the chocolate visit because they are about to close. We were then brought to the waterfall and given 20 mins there. Thereafter, we headed back to the city. This is clearly not a well planned out tour as they should have designated time for each location and bring us to the locations promised. We basically paid for transport and nothing else.

Unfortunately, as a public tour company, we are at the mercy of Mother Nature. I am sure our driver made the decision to skip the Stevenson waterfalls to avoid our guests standing out in the rain and cold. Luckily you were still able to see the waterfalls in all their glory in the afternoon! We do apologise that our driver missed the Chocolaterie, and please be assured we will address this further internally. We plan our itineraries to make the most of the day on tour, and yet sometimes we have to make changes throughout the day to ensure everyone gets home on time. We will make the necessary changes to ensure this stop is not missed again! Not worth it

Bus came late. Was only given 10 mins @ Steveson lake. We did not see the waterfall as it takes abt 15 mins to walk to the waterfall. A very rush itinerary. Is like a touch and go.

Shane was an excellent guide. We had a dump of snow while we are at the mountains which was the experience we are chasing. The Yarra Valley chocolate factory was tooo good to miss!

Walking trail to the summit, Stevenson Falls was great, my opnion is that time at the Lake Montain should be decreased by 45 mins and extra allowed at the falls and the choclate factory. Those felt rushed. Shaun was great, loved his sense of humour and enjoyed his commentary.
