What To Expect

Meet your guide during pickup at your hotel in Negril, Ocho Rios, or Negril. Depart on your evening ride to the Luminous Lagoon, in the Trelawny Parish on Jamaica’s north coast. The lagoon is home to millions of microscopic bioluminescent organisms and is one of the country's natural wonders.

When you arrive at the lagoon, transfer to a small boat and head out into the lagoon under the light of the moon. Aboard the boat, enjoy a complimentary rum punch and listen to your expert guide tell you about what makes the lagoon's tiny inhabitants glow.

If you like, dive into the water, only five feet (1.5 meters) deep and one of a few bioluminescent lagoons in the world. As you move, watch the tiny harmless creatures light up blue-green around your body. When your luminous adventure is over, enjoy transportation back to your hotel.

Cool experience

Dwayne ( insta: dwaynethompson352 ) is the absolute best!!!! He was our driver and id recommend him for this tour and any other tours that you will do in Jamaica! You wont regret it! The lights were awesome, the fire show blew my mind. The water is cold though so be warned :)

Breathtakingly beautiful

We had an incredible time! The bus driver and the guys working the boats were very informative and fun! The rum punch was delicious and the gentleman doing the fire show was very talented. The lagoon itself was a once in a lifetime experience that I would highly recommend Absolutely beautiful!

Nice experience in luminous lagoon

Luminous lagoon was very nice. Best advice that I can give you - jump in the water first from the boat. "Power" of bacterias (or what is that) is short. You will be in the water around 40 mins and that is more than enough. Boat staff are friendly (and waiting for gratitudes). General facility is nice, you have place to seat and thy give you a free cocktail (you can take more than one, at last I did). About the tour company. It was medium sized bus (30 people) that was ofc 30 mins late. They just take you to the facility that is different company (same one for everyone) and bring you back after. Driver is directly asking for tips.

Disappointed

Very disappointed with this activity, and that’s a first for me! When we get to the spot, the first thing the captain says is it’s 6 feet deep — the as failed to mention you need to be a good swimmer. We are not good swimmers AND we were all given free adult beverages before going out — adding to an unsafe situation. Additionally, even for the people who went in, the luminous effect was minimal at best. Would not repeat this activity.

Luminescent lagoon: a must-do in Jamaica

This was a flabbergasted experience, and fortunately all conditions provided by the absence of a full moon and no rain ensured a complete visual sensation.

No class

The driver who picked us up at the hotel was not polite. His story about the Rosehall was full of inappropriate adult content. There was no class to his jokes. The boat crew also was not that great but the fire show guy was doing a good job initially but towards the end his act was not appropriate. There was no class what so ever. Pls avoid this company if you are traveling as a family or with children.

Very disappointed

This trip is not worth the money. It is a trap. First you get picked up at 4:45 it’s an hour drive for us to the lagoon. But nothing happens till close to 7. So the trap is eat and drink and spend your money. There is no place to go. Then once you do go it is only 15-20 in the water. And on full moon nights the luminescent is not all that bright. Following that you are now forced to wait till the 400 or so people have there turn. Since there is only 3 boats it takes time. After they are done there is a “show” it was the best part. Then you get on the bus back. So if you are in an all inclusive there is a very good chance you missed dinner

Very Touristy, but nice experience

It took us almost 2h to get from the pick up point to the lagoon, because lots of the other guests where late and on the way there we stopped at a souvenir shop, which was very unnecessary. The lagoon itself was nice though, but the time there is very limited. It's a nice experience, but the long time to get there & back makes it very long trip for a short highlight. When you arrive at the restaurant from where the boats to the lagoon departs, it's very crowded. So you should keep in mind that there is a lot of people doing it and you can't really decide on your own what you do.

Awesome experience. A must do once in a lifetime

Wonderful experience with the tour company/guide and Luminous Lagoon. The pickup van showed up on time at our hotel. We reached ant the lagoon and watched the fire show. After 10-15 minutes, we got into the boat. It was a full moon night. Since the day was hot, the luminescence was wonderful. We could see full glow while the boat was moving and we were able to create beautiful glow around us when we went into the water as well. Overall very pleasant and once in a lifetime experience. Will recommend to everyone

Very interesting sight

Tour company was disappointing, but amazing experience at the lagoon.

The experience itself was amazing, but the tour company was disappointing. The whole tour was almost 4 hours but we spent just 20 mins in the bay. There were lots of pickups and drop offs and for some reason we spent almost an hour waiting because a small group wanted to have dinner at the lagoon. I would do another tour and pay a little extra rather than wasting so much time with this tour operator.
