What To Expect

Visitors to Jamaica should not miss an opportunity to swim in the Luminions Lagoon’s magical water. This group tour takes the hassle out of the experience by providing round-trip transport from Montego Bay, the boat to take you into the lagoon, and even a glass of local rum punch to set the mood for your night swim.

Your tour starts with hotel pickup to keep things running smoothly. After everyone is collected, you’ll drive around a half hour out to Falmouth, where you’ll find your Luminions Lagoon.

Be amazed as the phosphorescence illuminates your movements as you swim through the blue water.

This was an INCREDIBLE experience, especially for the price! The guide was friendly and the driver told us interesting facts about Jamaica the whole way to the lagoon. Highly recommend doing this, we were on the fence and I can’t imagine not having experienced this.

Fun little trip

Cool experience. The driver was on time and called us ahead to let us know he was on his way. Brought us to this little bar on the side of the lagoon where we boarded the boat. Apparently they only do small groups compared to some of the other boats we saw, which to me felt better. The water on the lagoon is shallow so you can actually stand, however the ground is very muddy so water shoes are a must. We were in the water 40 minutes floating with the bioluminescent plankton. You may not catch it with a camera so you might just enjoy it. Bring mosquito repellent !!!! Will definitely recommend

The water did not illuminate and we was not told that would happen until after we paid and booked the trip. They do not provide this information until after you have paid. They should tell people that their is a possibility that they water would not illuminate

Late pickup; lackluster experience.

The driver was nearly an hour late picking us up. He apologized, but the expectation could have been set that it was going to be almost an hour wait. Be prepared for all the fumes on the bus and on the boat. The lagoon hardly glowed due to moonlight or whatever. Not worth the hour wait or the price. In the future readers, if you’re looking to book this tour, you should probably check what the moon is like at the time of booking and only book if it’s less than half full and maybe bring your own UV light so you can actually see it.

Hi Heather, has i had made you aware from earlier that your pickup would have been late due to heavy traffic on the road and two other guest themselves ben late, and yes the brightness of the moon did cause the glow not to be has bright.

We were not informed of who was picking us up. We got on the wrong bus that went to the Luminous Lagoon. We were not told who we should look for, the name of the company picking us up, or what the driver would be wearing. We want a refund, please.

I sent you an email from the night before your trip had I've done to all my clients, you didn't respond, we came to the hotel you where staying at even before the time you choose, we had the front desk called your room, they got no response., I'm so sorry that you went on the wrong bus, but you where the one who should have shown the driver your ticket when entering that vehicle.

The driver who came to pick us up early and we ended up waiting at the bar by the boat for about an hour, until the sun set. Once we went out to the spot where the lagoon was luminous we were given 15 minutes. That means we sat and waited at the bar for longer than we were in the water. The lagoon part was fun but not sure it was worth it. We were also told the photographer had been out sick for two weeks. I’m not sure if I would recommend this. The driver to and from the bar at the lagoon drove erratically and pumped the brakes over and over while waiting for lights to turn green.

Hi Danielle_c, I have read your review, I am happy you found the Lagoon to be fun, I am also sorry you had to wait an hour to get on the boat, you where picked up at 5.30pm, it's a 40 minute drive to the location and the sunsets at around 6.20pm pm, that means you would have gotten there just around five minutes before sunset. Safe driving is our main concern has our aim is to be accident free, we want all our clients to have a safe and happy vacation while here in Jamaica, I have spoken to the driver about the braking at the stoplight which at the time he said he did to avoid a other vehicle hitting ours. We are sorry about that, but our aim is to keep all our clients safe.

Folks were nice. It was lovely being out on the water and seeing the night sky set against the luminescence activated in the water. It wasn't my full cup of tea, but it was still a nice excursion, nonetheless.

A 2-4 hour tour mostly on ths bus with a streesed out driver. Expect 15 minutes in the lagoon.

Stay in the warm water to make some luminous light was fun. But the duration was only 15 minutes. Also I reserve a pick up at my hotel at 6:00pm but was given five 5 minutes to be ready on the other side of the road with a heavy traffic at 5:30pm while I in a nearby restaurant. That was not fun!

All good. It took bout 35 min on a bus. The driver has some rap musoc cranked a bit too miuch so hard to talk and kinda painful volume when we arrived The guides were nice . The dock they take you too has a small.bar in a little town area that was sketchy feeling and the boat was old with a pull start motor lol. Still it got us out and back with a few minute ride ( some other companys were out there but.honestly i liked the intimate boat better than being on a bigger boat with too many people ) The water was warm and the bottom was mushy ..about 4 feet deep amd the waters light up with ever move . Glad we did the experience

This was an unforgettable experience that reminds you god is good. Due to this sweet spot in mother nature, you can see blue neon lights leaving a trace behind your hands as you swim. Its so beautiful the Canon camera could not capture it. This is something you must see with your eyes. Jah bless Jamaica.

I was really excited based off the description to the lagoon and that there would be a fire dance show afterwards. When arriving to the location for the boat ride, everything was turned off no lights, music, etc. and no one was around. Our taxi driver found the owner, who was very pleasant and fun to be around. He offered us some rum punch or bottle of water included with our package. He also offered bug spray because of the mosquitoes, which was very nice. Upon boarding the boat there were 3 other "workers" only 1 of the 3 actually talked to us during the trip, the other 2 sat on their phones. When arriving to the spot of the lagoon, the water was not as vibrant as the pictures in description. This I know is above their control, we were only on the water for a total of 25 minutes, it was not very exciting. Upon returning to the dock for the boat we were not greeted by anyone and no fire show or anything afterwards, we got changed in their bathroom and got back into the car. It was an ok experience but definitely not worth the money.

I my package for the price you paid offers round-trip transportation to and from your resort and the boat ride, a fire dance show is not apart of what I offer.

The attached was the only photo I got by using night setting on my phone. Their 'special camera' broke down and they never told us that we would not have any reminders of the visit. Despicable! Is this how Jamaica rolls?

Nice experience to do. Very impressive to swim and see the luminous around. But the only problem was the guide. The battery of his camera was dead so he was not capable to take photos of us. We were disappointed of that.

Hi Christian, the photos taken on the tour are optional, you had a choice to buy or not to buy. also, you where a solo traveler, I don't understand how you would be able to take your own pictures while swimming, so i do not understand when you said the guide lied.

The luminous waters were indeed a natural phenomenon that I was glad I experienced. The driver was about 25 minutes late to the pickup. The neighborhood that the boat was in was very sketchy and seemed dangerous. The lead tour person greeted us with a rum punch which was very nice. The life jackets were the wrong sizes and many were broken, so much so that I enjoyed the luminous water from the boat instead of getting in the water. The lead's camera was broken so no pictures were taken. It seemed like we were penalized for the driver being late, in that the being in the water time, was so short. I would not recommend.

Hi Laurel_H, I am really sorry for all the hills you had with your experience, I am happy that you did find the lagoon to be the natural phenomenon though. has for your pickup been late, I wish we could correct that that, but the truth is with the type of roads we have with traffic and all from time to time we will run a little late for pickup, but that dose not limit the time you spend on the water, its not like we have the boat with people waiting, the tour starts when we get there.

Very unique experience. The waters in the lagoon are shallow so you could probably stand up if you don't know how to swim. They do give life jackets if you want them. Total time in the water felt like around 15-20 min, would have liked a little more time in the water ! Life guards and captain were all friendly.
