What To Expect

Your Munich walking tour begins at a convenient start point in the center of the city. Meet your guide—who’s expertly versed in the region’s World War II history—and set off on foot
to get up close to landmarks and immerse yourself in Munich’s past.

Over the course of two-and-a-half hours, you’ll visit some of Munich’s key Third Reich–era landmarks, as well as those that go unrecognized by most tourists. Visit Königsplatz (an important Nazi landmark), discover the Old Town Hall, stop by the beer halls that served as political gathering spaces, and much more.

As you go, your guide’s stories will take you from the Nazi party’s beginnings through its hateful ideology’s catastrophic rise and the devastations of World War II. Learn facts and stories that you wouldn’t have encountered on your own, and pay tribute at memorials to all those who suffered or lost their lives under the regime.

Your tour ends at Marienplatz in the center of Munich, leaving you plenty of time to continue your sightseeing.

Engaging tour with expert guide
Haley_D, May 2024
Josh was excellent; having such a knowledgeable and engaging guide makes all the difference. The tour itself was well paced and not too long or far. If you're a WWII history buff, you might find the information a bit surface-level, but the pictures shown and monuments you stop at make it a worthwhile tour nonetheless. It held my attention from start to finish. Recommended!
Informative, enjoyable tour
Keifer, May 2024
Michael was a good guide. He put the tour in context before we started and explained things clearly. He had a good sense of humor. Enjoyable tour.

Outstanding tour
Elizabeth_C, May 2024
Excellent tour! Michael was knowledgeable and entertaining. Covered a lot of ground - literally and historically, giving deeper insight into this dark chapter of history. Highly recommend.
Response from Host, May 2024
Thanks for the kind words about Michael and Radius Tours!
A lot of great information
John_H, May 2024
Our guide was Nicola and she was very good. She took us to a lot of locations and gave us a lot of great information. The tour starts at the Radius Tours office, then the group takes the train to Marienplatz, which is included in the price of the tour. The tour is walking around the city and seeing locations, and we didn't actually go inside. Though I doubt places like the Hofbrauhaus really want tour groups walking around their restaurant. Just a note, though: we ended the tour at the NS Documentation center, which is not the starting point, so you have to get yourself back to Marienplatz or wherever you want to go.
Response from Host, May 2024
A lot of great information is what we strive to give! Thanks for the great review of Nicola and Radius tours!

Amazing WWII tour
Jacob_M, May 2024
We had an amazing tour with the guide Josh. He was incredibly knowledgeable. He was able to answer any question that we had. There was a large group and he still did an amazing job making sure that we could hear him. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone especially if you could get Josh as a guide.
Response from Host, May 2024

JOSH knows his history
Patricia_S, May 2024
JOSH has a remarkable understanding of the history of his country and this time period. He worked very hard to give a clear picture of the people’s struggle during this time and succeeded in my opinion. It was a valuable experience and I would highly recommend this tour and JOSH.
Response from Host, May 2024
Partricia, Thank you so much for taking the time to write a reivew. We will pass along your positive feedback. Radius Tours
It was a bit of a let down only a few buildings and speeches from the guide
Farooq_M, May 2024
The old buildings in the park and Munich in general. The guide was knowledgeable and very apologetic about German history
Informative but not entirely accurate
Jeremy_P, May 2024
The tour was enjoyable but very politically motivated, yet understandably so. In doing research after the tour I found a lot of information to be incomplete, inaccurate or untrue. For example, he said 13 Nazi’s died in the Beer Haul Putsch but it was 15. He said article 1 of German Basic law limits Holocaust denial but it is actually article 5 that does this. As a person with German-Jewish ancestry that I was trying to explore, I wish the history was more accurate.
Hitler’s rise and the role Munich played
Ralf_S, May 2024
Visited many historically locations from the era leading to the rise of Hitler. Stood where he had stood and felt a chill.
Response from Host, May 2024
Thanks for the review Ralf, and yes, it can be chilling when thinking back on that dark period of our history.
Informative 3rd Reich Tour
Alexandra_C, May 2024
The 3rd Reich walking tour was very informative. Our guide Nicola was extremely knowledgeable. She had a lot of historical information as well as images that helped explain the complex series of events that led to Hitler and the Nazis rise in the 1930s. If you’re interested in WWII history this is a must in Munich.
Response from Host, May 2024
Thanks for the great review of Nicola and Radius tours, and the further recommendation.
Third Reich walking tour
Jane_B, May 2024
Our third Reich walking tour in Munich was great. Our party of 4 all thought it was definitely worth doing. Jeff, our guide, was humorous and knowledgable. Would recommend!
Response from Host, May 2024
Great to hear your tour with Jeff and Radius tours was what you expected!
Wanted more real life example of historical places
jeff_k, May 2024
Was hoping for a tour the more focused on the areas in Munich where nazi history happened. Meaning things like you are walking in the same place hitler did this. The history portion was great, but every building we went to we had to ask if it was the original or rebuilt after bombing. Seems that would be intuitive to mention. A big miss in my opinion.
Response from Host, May 2024
Thanks for your positive input on your tour with Radius. On the route you took is very hard not to walk in the footsteps of this dark past.
Great Tour
David_S, May 2024
Nicola did a great job, with tremendous knowledge of all the history. It covered as much as anyone could.
Response from Host, May 2024
Nicola, thank you very much for sharing your 5-star review with us, we very much appreciate it!
