We had the best time! The tour allowed us to get a feel for the grounds before it was busy while also getting some history and tips from our awesome tour guide Sam. The table reservation was worth the whole tour and we made friends along the way. I would absolutely do this again and recommend to family and friends!

Great experience! Daniel was a wonderful guide - he explained the history of Oktoberfest well and did an excellent job covering the grounds + making it a fun time in the beer tent. It seemed like a lot was included for the price and that made it extra cool! Thanks for the heart cookie necklace, beer and food vouchers and fun day! :)

Our guide, Daniel, was interesting, informative and funny. He gave us tour of the Oktoberfest site, some history, some suggestions of rides, etc. Then we had reserved tables in one of the beer tents where we drank beer, ate excellent food, and enjoyed the company of others on our tour. It was lots of fun.

Best Way to Experience It All!

We had a wonderful time touring the Oktoberfest fair grounds and riding the Ferris wheel (got great pictures from up there!). Then we were escorted into the Hoffbrau tent where we had our own area (wonderful to be separated from the craaaazy 20 somethings!) but we definitely had fun crazy. Dan (the man) was our guide and he made it so fun - leading us in the songs and making sure our beers were filled and chicken meals were delivered. I highly recommend this tour!!

Fun for First Visit

We did this tour on Friday of closing weekend. When we check in, we were given two drink tickets, one half chicken ticket, and one ferris wheel ticket. The tour was supposed to start at 10am, but started late because people showed up to the starting point late. The tour group was huge, so they split it between three tour guides. I want to say there was around maybe 20 people in each group. The first two hours of the tour consisted of walking to the festival grounds and then walking around the festival grounds. It was interesting hearing about the history. Plus, we got some tips on attending the festival on our own. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, however, you could tell he didn’t have much energy. He had said this was day 14 of the festival for him, as in he had been to Oktoberfest every single day since opening day. When we finally made it to the Hofrau tent after 12pm, the two other groups were already seated in our reserved seating. Our reserved seating was in a corner in the tent. The two groups who got there earlier were able to sit along the aisle in which they could see what was going on in the middle of tent when people were cheering and so forth. We, on the other hand, were literally in the corner and couldn’t see much. Our reservation was until 5pm, so basically for the next 4+ hours, if we wanted to sit, it was in the corner. Needless to say, I was not impressed with the seats. The beer and half chicken in this tent were delicious. When we ordered anything from the waitress using our tickets, we were required to give a 2 Euro tip. At 5pm sharp, a security guy stands at the entrance of our corner area and pushes everyone out a side door, no ifs, ands, or buts. So if you wanted to stay in the tent after 5pm, make sure you’re not in the corner when the security guard arrives or you will have to leave. Overall, it was our first time ever at Oktoberfest, so it was cool getting an idea about the history and getting tips on how to attend the festival on your own. Would I recommend this to other people? Probably not. It was very expensive for what you get, and if you are attending the festival with a small group or as a couple you can EASILY find seats in the middle of the tents where the action is (as long as you get there earlier in the day).

I read the pros and cons of taking a "tour" of Oktoberfest and you can check your disapproval at the door! As a person who does not travel much on their own outside of the states, this tour was perfect for us! We had reservations at the Hofbrau tent, we learned the colorful history of the event, we learned about the requirements for the beer in order to be served at this festival, our guide named off a list of some delicacies we might want to try(fish on a stick was surprisingly good), and we learned a lot just by all the questions the others in the group asked. We even tried to sing(humm) German songs! I want to give a shout out specifically to our guide, Timmy. Prost! Can you do Oktoberfest without this tour? Yes. But . . . interacting with a large group of people and feeding off of their energy and curiosity while your guide fires off answers to as many questions as he can . . . that might more fun than googling it on your phone.

Timmy and Daniel led our group. We toured the fair grounds with Tim who gave us a lot of tips and information. Had lunch and the afternoon at the Hofbrau tent which was loads of fun. The ferris wheel came with the tour and worthwhile because you could get a view of the festival grounds. Thumbs up! .
