Beautiful and relaxing tour!

Relaxed tour with informative commentary regarding the town. Learned and have seen so much of the beautiful Napier. The wine tasting plus the cheese and crackers at Askerne was a pleasant experience. Ross even took us to his beautiful home and got to meet his dogs! Even the Feijoa was a nice little surprise! Met many amazing people on this tour as well. Thank you Ross for a beautiful tour of Napier.

Ross, our guide, was great. He did a great job telling us about the agriculture in the area and how Napier became Art Deco. He answered questions and did everything you would want and expect a tour guide to do. It was a fun time and we even stopped at his house to see his flower garden.

Ross was a lovely tour guide. It was so special to get to go to his house and see his lovely garden and meet his pups! He knows and loves Napier. We were on a cruise and this tour was definitely a highlight of our trip! The wine and cheese tasting were awesome! Loved the winery as well.

Great guide around the city and out to the winery. We had a pretty substantial wine tasting, more than you normally get to try, plus nice cheese selection.

This was a brilliant tour! We made the silly error of going to the wrong stop but our lovely driver collected us. The tour was wonderful from start to finish. Ross was very knowledgeable about the area and showed us all the highlights of the gorgeous town of Napier. Would highly recommend!!

Thanks for the review and recommendation, yes I reckon I can fit in some great sights without rushing things. The shuttles can be a little hectic which may have caused you to get off at the wrong stop but we quickly found you all with little stress. Cheers Ross

Napier art deco with vines and views

We loved the views at Te Mata Peak and the wind and cheese tasting were great also. We finished our tour in downtown Napier and were able to experience a little of their art deco festival.

Wasted day time and money

The list of negative experiences on this tour are many. Arrived as per scheduled time for departure at 9am. Ross informed us that tour would be leaving at 10.15am as waiting for 4 people to arrive from another cruise ship. We elected to take a wonder around Napier to view the Architecture and arrived back at 10.05am. Waiting....... At 11.50am I located Ross the tour operator who was still awaiting the arrival of the 4 passengers from Viking Cruise lines. I asked him when the tour was going to begin. I was spoken to quite rudely. Ross didn't answer my question. I asked again and was told 11am. We should have been told this new departure time when we arrived at pick up point over two hours earlier. The tour itself was very poor his knowledge of the region was poor. Wine tasting cut short no tour through Napier of Art Deco buildings. Arrived back 40 minutes early. Certainly didn't need a visit to his residence. He should have been honest and upfront about later departure so we could have spent more time in Napier. We had an early departure time from Napier on our cruise ship which he was aware of. He elected to compromise our tour to accommodate later arrivals. I asked one of the passengers travelling on Viking what time was their departure for this tour was and was told 11am. When I arrived back on board the ship I had 3 txt msg two sent in the wrong name, which I corrected him on. The third txt msg was correct name stating 3 different departure times for this tour. All sent after we had spoken yo him at departure point in Napier. It was a total waste of time and money. Don't feel we should be paying for this tour.

Great overall tour of Napier

Ross was very communicative and was waiting for us when we got off the cruise shuttle. We had a lovely tour of the city ,Te Mata Peak , a wonderful wine and cheese tasting and a visit to his beautiful garden. It was a very good value for the money and I would highly recommend this tour.

Waste of time

The view from tbe peak was disappointing. Not special at all. The tour guide took us to his house. Why? The only nice thing was the wine tasting. I would not recommend

A most delightful time in Napier

Napier is very charming. The architecture is wonderful. The owner of the tour company is incredibly nice and knowledgeable. He was gracious enough to allow the group to experience the view from the backyard of his beautiful home. The winery was quite nice and there was a delicious cheese platter supplied while tasting the wines. I think that the trip to Te Mata Peak could have been deleted or, if there had been more time in port, extended so that we could have hiked a bit. Our particular tour guide, Angela, was very knowledgeable and personable. At the end of the excursion, she gave us the option of a driving tour to see more art deco homes in the city or to skip that and spend time in the city walking the streets and shopping. We greatly appreciated that and everyone in our group elected to skip the tour of homes in favor of spending time in the city. I highly recommend this tour. It was good value for the money.

Poor customer service

The tour operator was very knowledgeable, he added a lot of details about vegetation and the local area's history, but he didn't care much about the customer service. I received multiple confusing instructions about the pickup location which he considered to be my problem and decided to cut short the trip without informing us, we didn't get to see Te Mata Peak. As a visitor, I expected the tour operator to be more transparent about any deviations to the itinerary and what we would cover and give us some choices instead of just sitting down and following instructions. I still have no idea why he started the trip by taking us to his house, which was not a part of the itinerary and a total waste of time given we were running behind the schedule.

Napier Deco, Town and Country Cruise Ship Excursion

Ross was a great tour guide. We saw lots of countryside and wineries in a short time. While in Napier we saw a parade of old cars with many people wearing period clothes. Also an airshow! Beautiful city!
