Making light of shopping

We chose to do this activity a day before going home. We thought we had done all our shopping prior to this in Agra and Jaipur. However there were new things to discover as Farheen and Adeel helped us to navigate the chaos of Delhi shopping. Farheen took us to shops that were reasonably priced, helped us to bargain in some instances and kept the touts away from us. Adeel drove us safely around Delhi, managed the madness of the chaotic roads and provided us with information regarding the area we were in or monuments that we passed. This tour took the stress out of our shopping experience. On hindsight we would have planned this at the beginning of our trip rather than leave it to the last.

We had an Amazing day with Faheem and Aman, they took us to some very nice shops and markets, made sure the prices were fair, Amans historic knowledge was extensive ( he should be a teacher ) , I learned so much about this beautiful side of the world. Farheen and Sahil were fabulous! I highly recommend this dynamic duo. Farheen contacted me before the excursion to know what I wanted to shop for. She went above and beyond to get everything I wanted. She helped negotiate the best prices for me. She navigated the market and allys I never would have known were to go. The street food was fabulous we tried. Being a single woman traveling alone from USA, I felt safe and well taken care of. Sahil was an excellent driver, knowledgeable historian, and funny. It was an unforgettable experience that I will treasure for years. I am grateful I found this excursion meeting such beautiful people. A+++

Unmissable Experience For Solo Female Travelers

I wish I could give more than 5 stars!! Where to begin? Farheen and Adil were so incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. I felt very taken care of throughout the experience - this was my first day in India and I couldn’t have picked a better introduction to Delhi than this tour. Besides the shopping, the tour had so much more to offer. Adil, our chaperone, was an historian and shared a lot of insightful facts about Delhi and India’s culture, and his presence helped me feel safe as a solo female traveler. We got to try a lot of street food along the way which was awesome and safe to eat (I can confirm I didn’t get Delhi belly!) - the Jalebi was my absolute favorite. The shopping part was great. They asked me what type of market I liked best and requested for my shopping list ahead of time and tailored my experience based on what I needed and to fit my budget. They also took me to other types of shops to just see the wealth of products India had to offer, but they did ask me in advance if I was comfortable with that or if I preferred to just stick to my list, and stressed I shouldn’t feel pressured to buy anything, which I really appreciated. Farheen gave me great styling tips and learned my taste very quickly as she helped me pick culturally appropriate accessories for a wedding. She haggled the prices down for me and shielded me from all the vendors trying to lure us into their shops. In addition, she went above and beyond to be extra accommodating. I had made a mistake with the booking and she was really understanding and helped me sort it out, and I had a small issue with a fabric after the tour had ended and Farheen quickly got it all sorted for me even though the tour had ended hours earlier. She was so responsive over text and calls. As a solo female traveler safety was my main concern and this was the perfect experience: I felt super safe, got all the items I needed and got to experience and learn so much about Delhi. Couldn’t recommend enough!!

Farheen, our tour guide, was just wonderful and our driver (Adeel- sorry for the spelling!) was super knowledgeable. We were shopping for wedding outfits which we couldn’t have done without Farheen. They both continued to make our day wonderful with a trip to Old Delhi markets, great street food and beautiful jewellery. Farheen was also contactable after and so helpful with coordinating adjustments for our wedding outfits. She was absolutely wonderful and so helpful. We were both so grateful!

What a deal. Farheen took us shopping while our driver was our historic tour guide. Farheen saved us more money than we paid for the tour. It was just fun watching her negotiate “that is your initial price, what is your lowest price. . .still no good!” If you want to shop even a little, no reason not to do this. You will go to all the best places, pay the lowest prices and learn along the way. Fantastic!

When they say customized, they mean it, I already search what places I wanted to go, and I just a trusted person who can walk with me. Fahreen was such a professional guide, being an introvert, I don’t like talkative guide so I was so happy with Fahreen. As she only talk if I engage with her 😊.. we walk to the different markets while driver waits for us, she showed me the best place to exchange USD they have actually high rates than the airport, we ate together panipuri. This was a great experience. I was in Delhi for only a short period of time, so wanted to buy a few quality gifts from reputable vendors. Farheen was a wonderful guide. She asked for a list of items I wanted to go see in advance so that she could customize the itinerary. As we were shopping, I found her advice and opinion invaluable, especially when it came to making sure I was paying a fair price. She was so patient! I purchased some jewelery, shawls, spices and teas, all within just a few hours. You could definitely make a whole day out of it, but I had to cut is short due to a flight back home. Farheen also made a point to tell me about some of the city's history and landmarks, and offered street food. She clearly enjoys her work and is wonderful company all around. I very much recommend this tour. Just one piece of advice: do some homework beforehand. You will have an overwhelming selection to choose from and cost of items cab add up quickly, so have a good sense of your budget :)

FYI this is more than just a shopping tour! Prepare to also taste some street food, visit the spice market, ride some tuktuk’s - this is a full Old Delhi experience. The markets are super crowded and I didn’t see a single woman on her own, so I was glad to have the companionship in addition to the help!! You will probably get some stares but I didn’t stress for a minute because I had Shehla taking care of me! She took me everywhere I needed to go and was relaxed, friendly, and fun to be around. So the Delhi shopping experience is that every item has its own specific store/set of stores so every purchase is intentional. With that in mind… The first stop of the day was at a nice clothing shop for kurta or two and I learned the fast/hard way that you need to go in with a strong and firm idea of what you’re looking for and what you want to spend. If you’re like me and you’re used to browsing and thinking as you go this is gonna be challenging because the salespeople follow two steps behind and are very intense. So yeah, make a list and a budget before you go and good luck to you haha!! Definitely recommend this tour - this would have been a very challenging day on my own. Thank you Shehla - you’re a gem!!!!
