Terrible Tour

This was the worst tour we have been on. The tour guide was very condescending and he talked about the Pope and politics. We stood for the first hour seeing only three grave sites. We left the tour early because it was a such an awful experience.

Cemetery Fun

We learned some good history and information about burials and practices in New Orleans. We got to experience several types of cemeteries such as Catholic and Masonic and the importance of symbols used on the tombstones. Our Amazing tour guide was called Toast.

Our guide, Thorn, was terrific. He shared a lot of great stories and info about these cemeteries, with a dash of humor on top. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning more about this unique feature of New Orleans.

Toast seemed to be pushing his own agenda. And although I found his passion for respecting the dead to be admirable, he mocked the living by their faith, finacial status and even those who could not walk as fast in our group.

Just meh. Our guide was knowledgeable but overall his presentation skills were lacking and it was hard to hear him most of the time. I wish he would have told more of a story than just blurt out random facts here and there. Maybe I would have liked it more with a different tour guide. I also didn’t love having a ton of loud kids on the tour either, maybe have an age minimum because most could not pay attention or stay quiet.

Tour guide was excellent! He was very informative and entertaining. I have taken a lot of tours and he was one of the best I have had. I learned so much and very glad we took this tour because there are a lot of misconceptions about New Orleans cemeteries.

Tour guide was very informed but mixed in lots of political and social commentary. He was very hard to follow as he spoke very quickly, didn't wait for the entire group several times, and added in many strange jokes.

Some highlights but too rushed

Our guide, Toast, was very knowledgeable about the area and cemeteries. Unfortunately, he tried to cover too much. We would have rather visited less locations and spent more time exploring one less cemetery and learned more about where we were. He spoke very fast and with a lot of pop references. Also, he was leading the group and speaking so if you weren't right behind him, you missed a lot. One thing we liked was he brought us to a local cemetery. It is a very different view from the typical New Orleans cemeteries.

Must do to start a trip in NOL

Disappointing

I would be more discerning when considering which cemeteries to visit. While interesting, these did not display the variety that we saw elsewhere. The guide left us standing on the roadside outside the cemetery while giving initial explanations (with lots of traffic coming by) when we could have entered and started taking a look. Would have appreciated getting to move around more. There was very little walking on the walking tour. Guide had good information but tour was overall lacking.
