Maybe I Had High Expectations

New Orleans is filled with cultural history that is particularly unique to the rest of the US. A voodoo tour should be on everyone's list to learn about some of this rich history in a very fun and interactive way. The tour guides all seem to follow a theme of being, in a way, performative. Because of the theme and also in the interest of keeping the tour group engaged, that is to be expected. Our tour guide, however, was perhaps a little too theatrical where his narration of the historical buildings and associated events were sometimes hard to follow. Creating a dialect emanating a level of suspense was odd and unnecessary. Overall, the experience was rather disappointing. I am sure I will return to New Orleans again and would again book another voodoo ghost tour, but would hope for another tour guide whose delivery of the spooky history is more informative and easy to follow.

Spooky History & Intro to NOLA

We did this tour with a group of friends our first night in town! It was a great introduction to the area and we got to hear some of the spooky history you might not otherwise have known (ghosts, vampires, murders, etc). We learned about the making of VooDoo, including the myths and facts about it. Our tour guide Chris was phenomenal and dressed the part well! He wore a top hat, vest, kilt, and walked around with a staff. He was very knowledgeable of the area and was expressive during storytelling! I highly recommend this tour, especially with Chris as your guide!

Injustice for a city so rich in history

We were pretty disappointed with the tour and actually ended up leaving early. Our guide was very nice and projected her voice well to the large crowd, however, was horribly inaccurate with certain historical facts. For instance, twice mentioned that Andrew Jackson was in the civil war and that the Battle of New Orleans was in the civil war. Additionally she told a story at the pharmacy museum that we then later found out when we visited the museum is completely false. There are plenty of horror stories that are actually somewhat factual and based on real people, so we were hoping this tour would include these instead of all fake stories. Of course we don’t expect the vampire stories to be real and knew there would be some inaccuracies, but there are historical figures that surround the folklore. For a city so rich in history….this seems like an injustice. My opinion: save your money and go to the pharmacy museum for $10 and museum of death. These are way more interesting and based in history.

Erin was our tour guide and she was phenomenal! She knew so much about all the places we visited. This tour was more of a dark history of New Orleans rather than a true “ghost” tour, but, wow!! It was great.

We stayed in NOLA for a week and did a lot of TOURS and this was by far the worst experience we had. The first mistake was us paying for a “Rated R” expensive ($) for NOTHING rated R!! 2nd: Our tour guide was Coby and he was not a good story teller, plus he kept hitting his stick on the ground for the fire or whatever but we were more interested in the story and waiting for what made this an Adult Tour?!! It was so confusing and I got lost in the stories it was a mess and I will NOT recommend this! However I read reviews going and ASSUMED some folks made it up about Coby but it’s true if you get him on this Adult’s Only Voodoo tour it will be a waste of time and money!! I wish I could get a refund for this experience! We stared off with 19 ppl and my entire group left after the 2nd story. All was left was my group cause we didn’t want to be rude. But we wish we would have just left like everyone else.

First of all the tour started late. The guide was asked questions about the stuff she was talking about and did not know the answer. The guy said she would have to check her notes to get the info. The guide told a lot of black death stories that offended black members of the group . After the first stop in stories seven black members walked out of the tour and left . I thought this was a vampire tour not a klan meeting your. We left halfway through the tour meaning a total of 10 members left the tour.

Our memorable part of the tour was the real-life vampire. But there is so much more - without spoiling - This is a must-do tour! And watch a few movies/shows filmed in New Orleans before going. It is much more interesting that way.
