Great tour guide, honestly. Margarita was personable. friendly, and full of fun and interesting facts about Oaxaca and the site. The itinerary was well structured and it never felt as though you were on a tour with a million people, all on top of each other. The bakery was lovely, and getting to taste the different traditional breads added a friendly touch - really, it is just good business. Hierve el agua speaks for itself. You would be silly to visit Oaxaca and not visit the site. The cold pools were exactly what we needed after our 1 hour hike on that sweltering hot day! The views are spectacular and the petrified waterfalls are a beauty. I am not a mezcal fan, but I enjoyed learning about the production process. The traditional oaxaqueno ice cream was exactly what we need to end the tour - tuna fruit (prickly pear) and mango with chilli were my favourite flavours. I would recommend this tour.

Fantastic day with beautiful views and a very informative guide!

Swimming in the pools, the falls, the views. It was very well organized and Stephanie aka Fanny was an amazing guide, Carlos was also a very good driver. We left on time, the pick up place was easy to find with clean restrooms and a coffee shop. Great group of travellers from all over the world. The mezcal distillery was also very interesting.
      Great tour guide, honestly.

      Awsome day trip!

The tour was perfect! We had a wonderfull time, met nice people and had a lovely time discovering the panaderia, swiming and hicking at hierve al agua, and doing the mezcal tasting. The hike at hierve al agua is definetely worth it. It’s very short (about 1 hour), and quite easy, and the view is stunning. I suggest you do it before swimming, to refresh after the walk under the hot sun. Definetely recommand!
      Fun

Tour was great, didn’t feel rushed. Margarita was our tour guide and very informative, fun and friendly. Only locals are allowed to do tour guides at the waterfalls so Margarita couldn’t come round with us but it was Nice to do our own thing independently when there.
      Amazing tour with Fannie!!

Amazing experiance!! We had Fannie as our tour guide and was great!! She was able to translate everything from spanish to english and touched on some historic points on our way to the Hierve el Agua. Great tour guide, thanks Fannie!!
Great way to see and learn a lot!

Great day, our guide Stefanie was awesome and so knowledgeable, she made the day feel really easy going and fun! Comfy enough bus, saw and learnt so much about Oaxaca throughout the day.
      Great tour with excellent guide

Nice tour and great guide. Enough time to hike and swim and chill. Nice stops with a bakery and mescal tasting.
      Great Excursion

Overall great experience. I went solo, but was in a group with 8 others. Meeting point was easy to get to and they have bathrooms there. Fany the tour guide was amazing, kind, patient and very informative. The driver was also very nice. The tour was accurate for the description with the stops. We stopped at the bakery where we sampled three different breads and then had 10-15 minutes to purchase breads, tamales or coffee (you can get it to go and eat on the ride to hierve el agua if you’re a slow eater). After arriving at Hierve El Agua (around 11am) we had three hours to hike, swim and eat. The hike is intense but you don’t have to hike if you don’t want to (there is a ramp you can walk down to get to the pools). I suggest bringing water or purchasing water there. There are tour guides you can hire to guide you through the hike (you tip them as much as you’d like), but most of them only speak Spanish. Pesos are the only form of money accepted at the stops so make sure you bring cash to buy food, drinks and souvenirs. You’ll also need 5 pesos each time you need to use the restroom anywhere (except the bakery). There are no lockers available at hierve el agua but you can leave unnecessary items in the van. I personally just left my items next to me at the pool. There are stalls to change in. The food available for purchase were tamales, quesadillas, tyludas, etc. There are snacks like chips, fresh fruit, soda, water, as well as alcohol available. They also had souvenirs, hats and clothes available. After the hike/pools, the mezcal distillery was informative and you are able to try multiple mezcals. You can purchase bottles to take with you. If you spend over 800 pesos you can use a credit or debit card. Anything under is pesos only. Definitely recommend!
      Our guide was Margarita...

A great day at Hierve el Agua
      Jane_G, Mar 2024
We really enjoyed having 3 hours at Hierve el Agua. It is a site worthy of that amount of time if you want to hike around the falls and jump in the pools. The mezcal tour was well done and a nice end to the day.
      Beautiful but strenuous !
      Alison_A, Mar 2024
Waterfall was breathtaking. Hike more strenuous than talked about. Bathrooms by entrance were terrible. Our guide on van was great and informative. Bakery visit interesting. Mezcal tour was interesting but very tired at that point.
Culture, nature and people at it’s best

The tour of Hierve el Agua and the Mezcal distillery is a really beautifull and fun tour and really well guided. The tourguide was very knowledgable on local culture and traditions of Oaxaca and the Zapotec people. Also the driver Carlos was a steadfast driver of the Mexican roads with a great taste for Ranchera and Cumbia music which made the entire trip very enjoyable. We did this trip after the Oaxaca walking tour and what I can say generally is that I can recommend any tour from Oaxaca by locals to anyone because of the genuine dedication of the people of sharing their own culture.

Guide and driver were fantastic. If you speak Spa ish, hire a local guide. Met some great people and had a grand time! Advice...don't pack it all in 1. Try to. Reak up your tours. This was perfect. Relaxing.
      Really great tour, worth doing!

We loved this tour! Our tour guide Fany was really great! She was knowledgeable and made the journey there more interesting. Hierve el agua is beautiful and definitely worth a visit and the hike! And the bakery on the way + mezcal distillery on the way back were great too.
      Simple and perfect just enough

I really liked the guide and I liked being able to spend time at Hierve . I enjoyed both the bakery and mezcal tadting. I would recommend this trip.

      A Magical Oaxacan Experience
      Sarah_S, Feb 2024
An amazing experience I would recommend to anyone visiting Oaxaca City made possible by our fantastic tour guide, Fany! First we were led to a country side bakery and were shown three different types of local bread. On our way to the waterfall our guide Fany gave us all historical facts about sites we were to pass and what to expect for the waterfall and mezcal experience ahead. The vibes were immaculate! The waterfall hike was breathtaking with incredible views. We were told that there is only one other site like it in the world, which is in Turkey. The springs were actually not hot, but a little cold. It was still refreshing on a hot day and felt good. It just took a several minutes for the body to adjust. After that we had the option to look at all the shops and food vendors where we ended up getting one of the best meals of our trip. Next we got back in the van and headed to the Mezcal experience where we were shown the exact step by step process as to how they conduct the magical beverage, followed by a tasting of many different ages and styles of mezcal. I was blown away by the entire experience. At the end Fany gave us a big list of recommendations of places to go in the city and it was a great way to end the day!
