The Bob Marley tour was great & Winston was a very kind and well-skilled driver who was knowledgeable about the area sharing historical facts and answering any questions along the way. The van was clean and well maintained and we felt very safe throughout. This private tour is the way to go. The direct personal care is unmatched compared to a large group tour.

Unforgettable Experience

One of the best tours that I have experienced. Winston was our initial contact and he made sure that we were aware of the upcoming tour logistics until we came ashore and personally meet he and our wonderful guide Maxine. My brother and I were made so comfortable, it was as though we were traveling with a newly discovered family member. Maxine was so personable and knowledgeable, she made sure that we were comfortable and made special arrangements to keep us on schedule as to make it back to our cruise ship from 9 mile on time. An experience I will never forget.

Dalton was an amazing tour guide! He had so much information about Jamaica and Bob Marley. He was a very safe driver. Dr. Crazy was our guide at the home. He was hilarious! Don't try to use a credit card at the gift shop - they will tell you it was declined. Overall it was great value and we had no trouble getting there and back during our cruise day.

Did this trip with three teens and while the visit to Bob Marley’s birthplace and resting place was a cool experience, the drive out and back eats up the majority of your time, only allowing you this one activity and lunch. I would rate this higher if I were a huge Marley fan, so for those who are not, I would suggest looking for activities closer to port so you have more time to enjoy the island. Our gourde Henry was great, kind and informative. He did a great job! I would just make sure this was the only thing you wanted to see during a short visit to Jamaica. The stop or lunch was nice and I know the tour company can’t control the servers, but it wasn’t a very welcoming place to stop for lunch and the food served its purpose of trying some authentic jerk meals, but nothing spectacular. I would recommend the trip for a Marley lover.

As you mentioned you can only have lunch depends on the time your ship is going to leave, the drive is roughly 2 hours one way but as you say your not a Bob Marley fan, the tour is a great experience, yes it's a very long drive and you cannot do another attention for the day unless you are on the ship that leaves 5:pm Jamaica time. I'm hoping the next time you come you will be touring other attentions and also have lunch at another place so you enjoy the would be able to spend more time before you go back to the ship. OMG!!!! What an amazing time. Our guide Winston was incredible. He was very knowledgeable, kind, and courteous. We loved the journey through the countryside to Runaway Bay. Runaway Bay is a must do for any Bob Marley fan. On the way back we stopped and enjoyed lunch of Jerk Chicken. By the time our day was over, Winston become family and Jamaica felt like home. My sons are STILL talking about Winston, this tour, and Jamaica as a whole!

Winston did a wonderful job. He is a great driver. He is very knowledgeable about Jamaica and the tour specifically. He promptly picked us up from our hotel and we had a private trip in his minibus. He was a safe and efficient driver. The drive to 9 mile is up a mountain and narrow, but he never seemed nervous or concerned. He got us inside and took us to our tour guide. The tour itself was interesting, thorough and everything we hoped for. It was nice to get off the resort and see some of the real Jamaica on the drive. Winston was willing to answer any questions and also offered to stop for souvenirs, which we decided not to do.

Henry, our driver was great and thank goodness knew the route and the road well. It's a 1 1/2 hour ride to 9 mile from the cruise port and it is a crazy one. Trip up the mountain was cool though and went through several small towns. Once at the Marley compound we enjoyed the tour, the info and the guides who were all very funny and full of info.

Winston and David were great drivers for this tour and other stops we needed while visiting Ocho Rios. They provided excellent knowledge of the culture and pointed out important landmarks on the way to 9 Mile. Beyond the tour, they helped us find restaurants and nice shops to visit and were very courteous in making sure we go to and from all the places we needed safely while visiting Ocho Rios. I highly recommend their services!

9 Miles to Heaven - a MUST for Bob Marley fans!

This day was perfect and our private driver, Winston, was a genuinely warm, caring, and hard-working local. He is passionate about his work and enjoys connecting with new people. We learned lots of things about Jamaica, talked about life, and heard some of his stories. He was punctual and made the long ride up to 9 mile enjoyable. I will say the ride up the mountain is one to remember. It's beautiful and terrifying at the same time - ha!:) But as Winston said, as long as he's not nervous, we have no reason to be either. Needless to say, my eyes were closed at least part of the way. 9 Mile was an almost out-of-body experience. It was spiritual, deep, uplifting, encouraging and of course relaxing. We were lucky enough to get Captain Crazy as our guide (I was hoping for it) - he is one-of-a-kind and super knowledgeable and over the top - just the way we like it. You can find him on YouTube. There's definitely a sacred energy around the whole property and for those wanting to partake in a few spliffs...are more than welcome to. We went back and forth about which Bob Marley site to visit during this trip and we're so happy we went with 9 Mile. It was exactly what we were looking for...raw, real, and meaningful. You feel close to him and his music. It was nice to see so many different people from all over the world come together, just as he hoped and sang about...seriously one love all around. The locals outside of the property finding creative ways to ask for money was a sight to see, but you're kept at a distance and don't feel forced to give or respond. There's also a great gift shop on site and you can purchase everything you might need to be highly happy about your visit to 9 Mile. Thank you Winston for a great trip there and back. Thank you 9 Mile for keeping Bob's memory alive.

The driver met us at our hotel lobby promptly. He gave lots of useful information and a few optional stops for pictures along the way to 9 mile. Bob Marley's childhood home and resting place were an amazing experience. We enjoyed the trip very much!
