Do not pass on Andy's tour. It will make your whole trip.

We met Andy early of our start time in Shin Sekai in Osaka and we knew right away that we were in for a great night. Andy is very charismatic and it felt like we had known him for years a few minutes after meeting him. He gave us a walking tour of some prominent areas of Shin Sekai and a little history lesson on the area as we made our way to our first restaurant. Andy set the bar high starting us off with the best karaage we've ever had, and each of the following locations continued to maintain that level of excellence. He has handpicked some of the best food in Osaka for his tours and his great relationships with the owners of the places is clear as soon as you walk in the door. We had food including karaage, yakitori, takoyaki, and udon, just to name a few, and most of the dishes were the best food we had our entire trip. He also accommodated for food allergies in our group. Andy's knowledge of Osaka is deep and he had an answer for every question we could throw at him regarding history, culture, and food and his passion for the people, food, and culture of Osaka is immense. At the end of the day, Andy's goal was to make sure we had the best possible experience during our evening with him and he more than delivered on that. I would recommend his tour to anyone and everyone. We had an absolute blast, and you will too.

5 different restaurants and more food than j could finish eating. All of it delicious and with a lot of variety. The tour guide was also very knowledgeable, not just about food but also the area, Japanese history, and Japanese culture.

This is definitely one of the best food tours I have done in my life and I have done a lot of them across the world. Andy’s passion and genuineness come across throughout the tour and they makes it more fun. Along with fun, you will leave with a full stomach. If you are on the fence about which tour to do in Osaka, I would highly recommend this one.

We were late joining the tour & missed one restaurant but we eventually found our group! The eateries that Scott chose for the tour were very good and choices were excellent. The food we consumed were enough to satisfy us that we didn’t have to look for another eatery to have dinner. Scott explained the food we had including the drinks. Well organized! Will join this tour again should we come back.

BOOK THIS FOOD TOUR!!! I don't often write reviews, but I have to leave one for these guys. I traveled solo to Osaka and knew I wanted to do a food tour. There were a lot of options, but settled on this one. I knew nothing about the Shinseikai area, but it's clearly a great area for food, and especially street food. It was very easy to find the guide (Scott), and then set off on the tour. At each stop Scott gave a great overview of the food we'd be eating, drinks, and his recommendations. He was never wrong and I was able to try a few things I had never tried before. It was also nice to hear about how he started learning Japanese and came to living in Osaka. It is very clear he loves the city, and loves showing it off. It was also easy to see that him and the staff at each restaurant have a lot of mutual respect for each other. I really enjoyed being able to visit some spots "off the beaten trail"! What I liked best about this tour, is that Scott and Andy made it clear they were here to help us and provide recommendations outside of the tour. I asked for a sushi restaurant near my hotel, and Andy was spot-on! Best sushi I've ever had. Can't say enough great things about this tour!

Andy was an awesome tour guide! The restaurants we visited were fantastic and he had a ton of knowledge about the neighborhood that he shared. It was a highlight of our trip to Japan!! We had fried chicken, octopus, fried octopus, chicken and beef skewers, and some tofu, among other things!

We spent the last and best 22 hours of our week in Japan in Osaka, and Andy deserves most of the credit. His tour was fabulous. He's super funny - a Brit/expat completely at home in the food world of Osaka. The neighborhood (which was designed to look like Coney Island c. 1920, seriously) is fun beyond belief. He picks restaurants he would actually EAT AT, not places (like most tours) that cut him the best $ deals. The food was both authentic and excellent. 2 adults, a 22 year old and 18 year old all give him an A. Indeed an A+...when I booked the tour I asked if he knew anyone who could custom tour the four of us the next morning for 4 hours before we dashed to our plane. He was booked himself, but sourced a former coworker who gave us another solid A experience. The travel world has become "viatorized" - most food tours are now OK, but not more than that. Andy's doing it the right way. It was/is a perfect way to kick off a visit to Osaka.

This unique local experience was possible because Scott, an American Osakan, resident for the past twelve years was so integrated to the people, culture and food. This was the best person to guide us through the colorful maze of the Osaka night / food scene. This was not only a degustation of local dishes but a hangout. Scott was very kind and attentive to our needs!

This tour exceeded my expectations. The guide was nice, knowledgeable, and funny. The food was great and so filling. The guide went out of his way to make sure everyone was happy. I am a pescatarian (no meat but eats fish) and he was able to accommodate my dietary restrictions. He would also be able to accommodate those who do not eat pork. Highly recommend this tour.

My teen son and I both love Japanese food but would not know where to find the great places to eat. Andy was a great guide to all things food and drink in Shinsekai Osaka, not as touristy and very local. There is nothing better than eating like a local.....fried chicken karaage, takoyaki unlike what we have tried before, yakatori, warming tofu and vegetable stew, ice cream, and local drinks. My son likes tofu but loved this version with beef marrow. We took lots of photos of the sights and the food, as it was more than just about the food. It was an unexceptionable dinner with great company because it was delivered with passion. We can't wait to do it again next year❤️
