What To Expect

Begin your tour with pickup at your hotel in Osaka. Meet your private guide and climb into your private vehicle, then set off for Osaka Castle, once the stronghold of the city.

Then it's on to the grounds of Shitennoji Temple, which dates back to the 6th century. Explore the Japanese garden (at an additional cost) and see the shrines, grand dates, and pagoda.

Your next stop is the old entertainment quarter of Shinsekai for a quick walking tour of emblematic landmarks.

Then visit the large Shinto complex called Sumiyoshi Taisha, where you'll see the famous arching bridge and note differences in style from the Buddhist temple on your guided tour.

Stop for lunch at a kaiten sushi, or 'revolving sushi', restaurant, before continuing to Sakai, a city that borders Osaka to the south. From the Sakai City Hall, get a panoramic view over the city, including its large 'kofun', or tombs. Explore one of the tombs, then explore nearby Daisen Park (tickets not included), home to a modern Japanese garden.

Please note: the Shitennoji gardens are closed on the 21st of each month and the Japanese gardens at Daisen Park are closed on Mondays. If Daisen Park's Japanese Garden is closed on the day of your tour, you can choose an alternative activity.

Please note that the Japanese gardens at Daisen Park are closed on Mondays (unless Monday is a holiday, in which case they are closed on Tuesday). If Daisen Park's Japanese Garden is closed on the day of your tour, you can spend time shopping, touring other locations by car, or something else to your liking.
Gratuities are uncommon in Japan, however if you really enjoyed your time and want to show your guide how much you appreciate them, they’ll be extremely happy!
According to Japanese law, children under 6 years old or less than 140cm MUST use car seats. Be sure to request one in advance from us if required.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 6 full days before the experience’s start time.
Any changes made less than 6 full days before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
For a 50% refund, you must cancel 2–6 full days before the experience’s start time.

If you cancel less than 2 full days before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 2 full days before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

Excellent tour of Osaka, requests for specific destinations granted

Awesome private tour with specific requested destinations. We were in Osaka for a wedding (family with adult children, option not available in Viator) and requested some changes in the tour destinations, esp a bonsai school for my brother-in-law! Pleasant surprise to discover that this tour is also operated by Pinpoint Travels, with whom we booked another tour to Kyoto on another day (amazing guide Kevin, quick email responses from Kristy in their office)! Price of private tour with flexible schedule and patient and knowledgeable guide so worth it with fam who wanted to take pics at every turn!

We had a great time with our guide Levy. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He was also very flexible and adjusted our itinerary based on what we visited and wanted to see. We enjoyed the tea ceremony and the visit to the fish market. Overall, we had a wonderful time. And our sushi lunch was one of the highlights of our entire trip for my son. The tour made our Osaka trip fun and memorable. Kevin gave us the tour himself. We couldn’t ask for a better guide to the city because he was friendly, accommodating and open with his experiences living in the city. We appreciate how he showed us the best parts of Osaka but in a local perspective. He also gave us access to the most beautiful areas that most tourists are not aware of. We learned so much about the culture, history and the people of the areas we explored. The food was also fantastic! One thing we really loved about the tour was the flexibility we had with time. Kevin allowed us to take all the time we needed for photos, so we never felt rushed or stressed. He was very engaging with us and constantly asked us what we liked so that he could cater to our preferences. Our conversations with him were also very interesting. There was no boring moment and we liked how he was so relatable and approachable. Great Tour!

We had Kevin as our guide who picked us up at our AirBnb. We spent a whole day exploring various shrines and gardens. Kevin is very knowledgable and interesting! It's one thing to visit shrines and temples alone but having a guide enhances the experience and you get so much more out of it! Highly recommended and request Kevin if you are able!

Since we travelled with seniors and kids, we opted to to a private tour of Osaka so we are not stressed. Kevin was knowledgeable and also was able to guide us on where to pass to avoid most tourists going to Osaka Castle. Most importantly, he was very patient with us even though our pace was slow. The restaurant where we had our lunch offered a variety of Japanese food and was delicious. I highly recommend this tour!

This was an excellent tour, with our guide Kevin, who was the owner of the company. He picked us up at the port, and specifically tailored our tour to take in the sites that were interesting to us without any feeling of rushing to get back to the ship. We felt like we had a better understanding of the differences between Shinto and Buddhist temples and shrines, and experienced the gardens without hoards of other tourists.
