Tour start location will be Big Wheel Tours where you'll rent your bikes, if you're not bringing your own. (Please don't go to the Palm Desert location!) Free off-street parking is available behind the shop. We can wait 10 minutes for late arriving guests.

What To Expect

Make your own way to the meetup point where you can rent a bicycle (if not bringing your own). Meet your guide and small group of fellow explorers and push off on your tour of South Palm Springs architecture and history.

Pedal your way first to Deepwell Estates, home to many luxury midcentury houses built in the 1950s and beyond, where your guide points out its variety of architectural styles.

Your next stop is the historic neighborhood of Twin Palms Estates, which was built by the Alexander Construction Company and designed by William Krisel.

Next is Canyon View Estates, a condo community designed by William Krisel in 196, which recently appeared in the movie "Don't Worry Darling.”

Your final stop is the mountain–surrounded Indian Canyons Golf Resort where the luxury vacation homes date from 1960.

Your tour ends back at the meeting point.

Don't miss this bicycle tour of Mid Mod architecture in historic Palm Springs neighborhoods. Brennan is an excellent tour guide! You'll learn SO much about Palm Springs history while cycling by some gorgeous examples of mid-20th-century homes.

We were on a Backroads hike/bike trip in Palm springs and Joshua Tree. If you know Backroads, they know the best places, where to go and who to do it with and they selected Brennan for our guide. Until this trip we had mostly been in the parks and in nature so I did not have a good feel for Palm Springs. Brennan gave us the most wonderful tour with the history of Palm Springs, the architecture and then the homes of the old Hollywood celebrities and what brought them to Palm Springs. I love facts like: in the olden days, movie stars could not venture more than 100 miles from a set in case they were called back to redo a scene. Palm Springs is 100 miles from Hollywood. Also, paparrazzi could not stalk the stars outside of 85 mile radius so Palm Springs was the perfect place for them. Much of the architecture is geared towards privacy. So interesting. Brennan was the best!

Brennan was a fabulous guide. We met in the parking lot behind the Big Wheel bike rental shop and traveled around 3 different neighborhoods with Brennan describing different types of architecture and landscape design. He was so friendly and full of information!! He was a considerate and personal guide. We had a great time and definitely would recommend this tour with Brennan.

It is fun to learn about the different architects and see the actual homes they designed. Brennan is knowledgeable and enthusiastic. And biking is easy on the flat streets of Palm Springs. This is a great way to spend a few hours with friends while vacationing in the city.

I like bike tours of cities to get my bearings and flesh out the city I am in. I have toured many cities and found Palm Springs to be the perfect city to tour by bike. Streets are wide, drivers are extra careful and the while city is rimmed by gorgeous mountains, and a few with snow. That is the set up for a full morning of Palm Springs history given by Brennen as we toured 3 different neighborhoods. After the tour I felt like I had a Master Class while enjoying fresh air and sunshine! Fantastic experience!

Brennan was a terrific tour guide! He is extremely knowledgable about architecture and about the "back stories" of many of the houses we saw (who lived there, when, etc). He had a delightful, engaging style and would happily take time to answer all of our questions. And the ride was really easy....no hills, easy pace. We went on Sunday morning which was especially nice because it was nice and quiet, with very little traffic. I would definitely recommend this activity!!
