Fantastic tour, highly recommended to really get a feeling for Pompeii and the inhabitants lives up to and after the eruption. You won't get this 'colour' from a map. Carmine was a very thoughtful (with the kids) and knowledgeable guide....highly recommended!

Again, a tour with Viator was excellent. Our tour of Pompei was amazing and we could have never learned what we did without our guide Alona. She made sure we saw the most important area since we had such a short time. Alona was fantastic and very knowledgeable. She did not rush the tour and always had answers to our questions. We had such a wonderful time on our tour of Pompeii with Angela, who was a phenomenal guide. She had so much information to share and 3 hours with her absolutely flew by, we could have done another 3 hours with her and not been bored at all. We had a family group of 8 with ages ranging from 74 to 8 and Angela was so engaging with everyone in the group and took time to have an individual conversation with each person. She answered all of our questions and we were able to pack a lot in 3 hours. This was an unforgettable experience of a lifetime, made all the more special by our fantastic guide. Highly recommend.

This was an incredible 3hr tour with Carmine! He is so knowledgeable about the area and history of the site and shared so many fascinating details and stories that the time flew by! Our two teenage sons were enthralled as well! I highly recommend this tour with Carmine!!! It was a highlight of our trip for sure!

We had a fantastic private tour. 3h seemed to be a perfect time to gain a lot of knowledge but surely the area is big enough to continue for multiple hours. Would not recommend to go without a guide and highly recommend this tour!

Carmine met us and got us in quickly. He took us along a route that avoided a lot of the big crowds. He was friendly and very informative. Was very aware we had 10 year twins with us so planned the time accordingly and well spent. My only complaint would be he didn’t take us to the glass display cases where the human skeletons are (the kids really wanted to see that) and by the time I remembered about them, we were already at the exit. I guess I should have brought it up earlier. We all learned a lot

Excellent 3 hour tour guided by Angela who combined great expertise with real enthusiasm for her subject. She was considerate and delightful and we can highly recommend her. We learned so much, obviously about Pompeii, but also about local history and culture. The legacy of the people of Pompeii clear lives on. Private Pompeii Tour - History Comes to Life!

We planned our Pompeii visit as a day trip from Rome. We took the high speed train and booked a private guide who met us at the archeological site. Gennaro was a wonderful guide. His background in archeology and knowledge of Pompeii made this a memorable tour. Wouldn't change a thing. So glad I didn't book a tour via bus from Rome. The tour was fantastic, a highlight of our week in Italy. Fascinating to be there and hear the stories about what archeologists have learned about life 2000 years ago. It all came to life through Gennaro's stories! And he knew how to steer us around the big tour groups to make it a more intimate experience. Grazie mille!

Could not be more pleased with the tour we booked with Carmine. His knowledge and information and small details that really painted the picture of life in Pompeii at the time was enlightening and fascinating. Our car service from Amalfi was screwed up by the taxi company and he was more than accommodating at our 40 minute delay in arriving in Pompeii and greeting us with a big smile and warm welcome which meant so much to us. Great guy, great tour, wonderful way to finish our 2 week visit to Italy and the region. HIGHLY recommend.

Carmine was a fabulous guide. Not only was he an expert on Pompeii, but incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the times as well. He brought the tour to life by weaving together history and the site with wonderful story telling. We could just imagine, standing in the middle of the forum, what it was like 2000 years ago. The intricacies of the preserved details are incredible. The 3 hours flew by on a very hot day (bring a bottle of water!) I can’t imagine getting as much out of a visit to Pompeii without a guide like Carmine.
