Learn from my mistake

It took longer to get the ‘skip the line’ ticket than if I had gone and purchased it on the day. And it was so much more expensive! The same goes for all skip the lines without a tour guide. Avoid this mistake. Only use this service if you are booking a proper tour with a guide.

Very enjoyable and learned a lot. We needed more time to see where the horses are buried. Guide was wonderful. Showed recent things uncovered from a picture.

Pompeii tour

Disappointing - we booked the skip the line audio tour for two adults and a child. When picking up the tickets at the shop we were given only the two skip the line tickets for adults but were sent to stand in the long line at the entrance to obtain the “free” ticket for the child. Made absolutely no sense. If it wasn’t for the kindest people working at the entrance the whole “skip the line” experience which come with the higher price would have been in vain.

Not for people with little ones.

We were looking forward to it and when we heard it was just €20 more to upgrade to a walking tour we said sure. We were there 0900 and the staff was not overly busy and yet were not as kind as we had wished for. I asked a question to the tour guide and another staff member laughed and mocked me. We ended up leaving the group halfway thru because our little ones needed a break. We didn’t really see the major things we had hoped to see with the tour but we ended up seeing it on our own. I think my biggest thing was if you are booking with individuals that are either handicapped or little, avoid a walking tour and just do the ruins on your own pace.

This company was an absolute waste of time and money. The skip the line forced us to wait in line because they didn’t give you kids tickets you had to go through the line for those. It was 36 euro to get in at the park and 107 with this company. Just go and wait in line. Faster and cheaper.

Worth it!

Great tour. Easy to find by train station. Wish we had more time. I would definitely recommend at least 4-5 hours to see everything. We only had about 3 and saw maybe half. Also if traveling with a backpack, there is free luggage storage at the gate.

The audio guide was poor quality and was difficult to hear on the device-when picking up from the agency service was poor-rushed and rude….were keen to up sell walking guide and when declined just threw audio device into counter ….

We bought a skip the line tickets and audio guide in advance not knowing what the crowds would be and with a limited timeframe. After finding out that entry to Pompeii was free that day and finally finding the travel company with the booking we received the audio guides that had no headphones and were not compatible with Apple headsets. The audio guides were unusable. Pompeii on the other hand is absolutely amazing and worth visiting! We could have just seen it for free that day instead of over $100 for something we could visit for free. If the Travel service knows its free that day but still charge in the booking it seams misleading.

Tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. I am not sure if we got started late or there were so many tours that we had to proceed at a faster pace, but we moved way too fast. I was unable to take in everything we saw. We heard so many great stories, I am thinking we needed a longer tour.

Not wheelchair friendly

Went to the train station they sent me to the Marina gate, they sent me back to the train station who sent me back to the Marina gate. Couldn't make it work with the tour. It is unreasonable to expect a disabled customer to manage this mess. Had to use another company for a special "wheelchair accessible" tour and had to pay extra for an audioguide. Did not accommodate our needs and this tour should be refunded.

The rich, yet tragic history of Pompeii was smazing to see and hear about. The audio guide and stations should be more clearly mapped and labeled in the location. This is NOT an accessible site. They need more signage.

The audio guide is a phone that you play with no headset, so you hold it to your ear. To save battery life, the screen kept going off and since it was so sunny we had to stop and find shade to start it up again. We ended up just forgoing the audio guide which is a shame since it would have been interesting.

We always suggest to pay extra for a guided tour, but you don't trust us. Guide was great. Very knowledgeable and funny. Only got to see a smidge of the site so look forward to coming back! Only problem was we had overnight baggage and it was clear the ticket people don’t communicate with the entrance staff who don’t communicate with the guide and vice versa. Took about 30 mins to do what should have been a 5 min job.

No notice that Colisseum was closed.

Pompeii is remarkable. No complaints about the site and the amenities. Finding the meeting spot was very frustrating. Walked a long distance in VERY hot weather (38?). Entered Pompeii ruins and walked all the way to the Colisseum to it was closed (no signage) for some kind of filming event. I would have been great to know that before we started either by the tour company or the Pompeii staff at the gate.

Moreover, our office is easily reacheable as we are located just at the first floor of the train station. We loved pompei. The actual exhibit is fantastic. The draw back is having to go to the train station to pick up the tickets and drop the audio guide. Although this is near the main entrance it is farther from The main town square than the other entrances

Finding the ticket off was a farce, when we eventually find the right one we were informed they needed our passports which we didn’t have on us therefore we weren’t allowed to have the audio guide but was kindly told if we pay an extra £20 we could join a guided tour the team wasn’t helpful and we didn’t join the guided tour or get out audio guide - recommended doing some homework before booking
