Walking Tour of Pompei Ruins
Steven_F, Apr 2024
Great day. We started early (09:00am) so the temperature was pleasant throughout the tour. The meeting location was very easy to find and the tour guide (Max) was clear to understand and humorous at times. He explained things during this tour that I had not heard or maybe missed on previous visits so it was also just as interesting this time round.
Lovely

Vivianna gave us a wonderful tour making sure we saw some of everything and making the place come alive with great dialogue about what we saw.
Perfect guided tour

Max was lovely, knowledgeable and friendly. We were lucky to be in a smaller group of only 8 people. We would definitely recommend going later in the afternoon as we almost had the place to ourselves
Amazing!

Such an amazing opportunity to have a personal guide at Pompeii. My husband wasn't sure about going there in the first place and this ended up being his favorite part of Italy.
Great

It was great. We wondered were the big head was and tour guide said they moved it back in the 90s. Not true my daughter went here in 2016 and saw it. So not sure why we were not shown. I was told the photos online were old and not updated. Not sure why they would advertise this if the statues were not there, as they said. But other than that was a great experience.
Terribly disappointed with tour

After waiting to start 30 minutes after the start time we booked because the guide couldnt get his microphone to work we then waited in line for 70 minutes to enter even though we were supposed to “skip the line” and the guide was not an english speaker which i guess in the end it didnt matter that his microphone /headset system didnt work. Wished i had a better experience as i brought my daughter who only wanted to learn about pompeii.
A must see when in a neighborhood cities

Very interesting ruins caused by Volcano’s eruption. Good information from our tour guide. We enjoyed this tour a lot.
Do not use a tour. Explore on your own.

Please be aware Viator subs their tours out to third parties. This created an absolutely disasterious situation. We showed up on time and at the location we were told to. We walked up to each of the tour guides and tried to check in and each one of them told us we were not part of their group. We proceeded for the next 15 minutes to look everywhere for our tour guide and spoke with numerous individuals, none of which could help. We called the number we were advised to and nobody answered. We got online and left a message on the live chat. 5 minutes after that we finally received a phone call back and were told our guide was “stuck in traffic” which was clearly not true as soon after one of the original guides we first spoke to returned to get us and another couple that also couldn’t find their assigned group. Again, both parties spoke to this guide originally and we were both told we were not on their list. We were rushed up to the tour and given headsets, three of which did not work. The guides were unable to assist in getting the sets to work stating “ they always work”. The guides seemed stressed and put out to help. The ruins are miles wide and every tour guide keeps their group within 1/4 of the ruins which created long lines and crowds of people to see the “top” sites. We paid good money to “skip the line” to sit in line to see 4 main attractions. At one point waiting in line our tour guide told everyone in her group to stay by her. With 4 little kids, we were trying to listen to her request amongst hundreds of other people. Other people in our group sat and yelled at us for “cutting in line” as we were just doing what the guide stated. They then mocked us when we tried to keep our 4 young children with us when we approached one room where the guard stopped our kids and wouldn’t allow them in but we were already in. This tour may be perfect for people without children, but do NOT do a tour if you have kids. This is an amazing site that is a must see that has been ruined by the crowds and unorganized tours. They need to limit entrances to improve the overall experience. Guides also need to control their group. Yes, the tension was high on our end due to the safety of our children, but the rudeness allowed by other individuals in our party that only knew a fraction of the story made the experience terrible. We handed our headsets in and left the tour early. We explored on our own and avoided the crowds. It was a lot better experience on our own. The staff at the ruins themselves were also rude and unkind.
Large small group.

Small group was 26 people, although the guide handled well. Guide was extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We started 20 minutes late. The tour was significantly slowed down by the guide explaining in 2 languages. We had to leave the 2 hour tour after 2.5 hours to meet our ride back. It’s a good thing to get extra tour time but i wish i had the extra time to enjoy it.
An extraordinary Pompeii experience

Our guide, Giulia was exceptional in her knowledge and consideration of our group of four. We toured for two hours. Guilia was informative, interesting and answered the many questions we asked her. She provided an archeological and historical perspective on many aspects of the ruins and described how these translated into the story of life in Pompeii. Guilia's enthusiasm and love of what she does made our time with her a wonderful and meaningful memory of an incredible historical site.

Amazing city, slow tour guide
Samual_O, Jul 2019
What an amazing chance it was to check out this city, To walk back in time was simply amazing. The guide for this tour was very informative however as there is so much to see there was no chance of her getting to everything in the two hour time slot. We had to leave just over an hour into the tour as we had only seen three things in the city, knowing that there was much more to see and we were on a tight time frame we had no option but to leave. The guides tour could have been a bit quicker if she walked and talked. She also repeated herself a lot which was unnecessary. As it was very warm and there were a lot of periods of standing around, this caused everyone to get really hot. It was actually cooler walking. If you know anything about Pompeii just buy the skip the line ticket and don't bother with a tour.
Magnífico tour

La historia de cómo se conservo "congelo" en el tiempo la ciudad. Ya que el volcán no la destruyó realmente
