Alan gave my husband and me the most wonderful tour of Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula! He is warm, funny and just a pleasure to be with. One of the highlights of our trip to New Zealand was our tour with him.

We toured Dunedin, home to Otago University. Then went out to beautiful areas of the city, seeing lots of wildlife of the area. The trip to the Royal Albatross Center allowed us to see a few albatrosses in flight and some seals on the shore. It was another rainy day, but we made the best of it. I was able to sit in the front so I was able to take pictures, but the people in the back of the van couldn’t much, because the windows kept steaming up. And at times the people in the back couldn’t hear as well.

We are sorry to hear your disappointment you were not able to go to see Albatross viewing while on our tour.
We have several tour options available.
Unfortunately, you booked the option that includes free time at Albatross centre which does not include Albatross guided tour where you go to the viewing platform to see the nesting area from close. However, during free time outside Albatross centre it is likely to see these huge seabirds gliding in the sky if the wind is strong enough. Maybe during your visit Albatross were not flying.
For those who want to learn more and see from closer we offer an option including Albatross guided tour.

For starters we had an excellent guide named Theresa. She had a vast knowledge of the surrounding areas and made sure to show us the best views and tell us the history of wherever we went. As a bonus, we went to the botanical gardens and got an overview of the indigenous plants and trees and those that came from other continents. I highly recommend this tour as I came from it having learned a lot about the area and saw beautiful nature and scenery.

Seeing several huge Northern Royal Albatross soaring over the cliffs was amazing. The panoramic views of Dunedin were lovely. Arlene, our guide, was friendly, knowledgeable and gave us a wonderful tour, even though our time in Port had been reduced due to scheduling.

Beautiful scenery and a great tour guide. You can’t ask for more. Trii was very knowledgeable about the history of Dunedin, the animals and the landscape. She made the whole day interesting.

Absolutely love this tour. We saw some of the city but really focused more on the peninsula, the beautiful countryside, and the albatross wildlife piece. My 88 year old mother would have had trouble walking around the albatross rookery so they scheduled us on a boat that went around the point. It was fantastic. We got within a couple of feet of an albatross. We could also see the albatross flying off the cliffs above us. Wonderful , funny, and knowledgeable tour guide. Would take this tour again in a heartbeat.

Had an absolute great time and learnt so much. Tree was an amazing,inspiring guide. The information, history and stories was amazing and you could feel the love for the area and people as she guided us through the city and peninsula. Would highly recommend and encourage people to go on this tour, you won't regret it.
