The best of a sad day!

The guide that drove us to Auschwitz was Petr. He was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about all of the events centering around Prague, and Auschwitz.

We knew this would be a long day, but Petr, our driver and guide made the drive seem much shorter than expected. Petr was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of each of countries in the region, the history of the two world wars, and their aftermath. He also had provide translation during the actual tour. All went smoothly, and the impact of the experience was meaningful and will be with us for life. Thanks for the great experience.

Wonderful tour! Jan was our tour guide. He was knowledgeable, helpful and kind. It was a snowy day and he made us feel safe the whole trip! He was very accommodating to our needs on a very long day tour. The Auschwitz memorial was such a great experience and everyone should do it at least once!
Everyone needs to visit? No bear witness to Auschwitz so we never repeat

Auschwitz was incredible and vey sobering g. Our driver was awesome. The tour was very informative. We started our tour in Prague, which made for a long day, but well worth the time. We enjoyed the drive and seeing the polish countryside

This is a good way to get to Auschwitz. It's a 5 hour drive from Prague to Auschwitz Memorial. The time there was about 4 hours and the return drive was another 5 hours. The memorial was much more developed than I had expected. One problem is the number of people! They tour about 4,100 people through the memorial a day! They herd you through like cattle! There is A LOT of walking!! Our "personal guide" Petr was great! He did all of the driving in a very comfortable Mercedes SUV. There are choices of pick up times and we had one for 5am. I would suggest to take the earliest one available, like 4am or 4:30am. Due to the crowds and length of time to get there the earlier you arrive the better. My one complaint is with the description of the tour. The description says "Benefit from personalized attention as you tour the somber site at Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum...". This was anything BUT a personalized tour of the Memorial! As I said, we were hustled through by a guide (not our driver) who was difficult to understand, was very gruff, walked a mile a minute and didn't take questions. The tour guide for the group behind us was RIGHT on top of me and very rude! Petr, our driver, says the Viator guides are no longer allowed to accompany their guests and must surrender them at the Visitor's Center to join a large group of approx. 20 people. Viator needs to change their description of this tour to reflect that this IS NOT a personalized tour of Auschwitz but it is a convenient way to get to the memorial

Auschwitz Birkenau Memorial is the most visited muzeum of its kind . Only Muzem guides can do the tours inside the complex and all tours there are group tours. Unfortunately we can t choose our guide inside the muzeum. Our driver/guides are very knowledgeable and experienced, but they are not alowed to talk inside the complex. I am very sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your Muzeum guide, but unfortunately we have no influence on it unless we know the name, we can write directly to Auschwitz Museum. If you've never been to Auschwitz, it is a must-experience excursion in my opinion. Petr was outstanding in every sense of the word. He was on time, drove us safely to and from Auschwitz and back to Prague and was extremely knowledgeable. All the reviews were right, the food stop on the way back was really delicious and authentic. Highly recommend!

All my life I have wanted to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau. It’s a sad part of human history that every person should be required to experience so that history will not repeat itself. Peter was an awesome driver/guide for the long ride back and forth from Prague. He is a very friendly, kind and accommodating person. We stopped for snacks and we ate at a very good restaurant that he picked out on the way back. Overall great experience.

Highly recommend this tour. It's a long drive from Prague to Auschwitz, but well worth the time. We are frequent travelers and have spent considerable time in Europe but never made it to Auschwitz. When we decided that Prague is a close as we ever get we booked the trip. We have used Viator several times - Paris and Prague and they have never disappointed. This time we had an excellent driver - Peter - and the tour went off w/out a hitch.

Rip Off!

The price we paid (Euro 1000.00) for a drive to Auschwitz was a rip-off. There was none of the ‘enjoy a flexible private tour with your own personal guide’ as advertised. We were driven from Prague to Auschwitz and back as if in an Uber. Our driver David walked us to the ticket office at Auschwitz where he bought two tickets from the ticket office and handed them to us. We joined the English tour as any regular visitors would. Misleading and a rip off.

Dear Customers, the rate for the tour to Auschwitz is higher because Auschwitz Birkenau Memorial is 550 km from Prague , 6 hours journey one way. In Auschwitz Birkenau ít is not possible to have a private guide, they provide only group tours. I appologize for any misunderstanding and I feel sorry you didn t enjoy the time with David. This was an excellent experience. Peter was our driver and he was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of cool information along the way. He was also very prepared for all scenarios even looking up the weather and giving us umbrellas that he brought just in case. The tour there was by a local guide who was also excellent. It was all arranged through Lucy Tours and everything was incredible. Highly recommend this tour.
