I can highly recommend this tour to anyone who would like to learn more about the culture of Ecuador and who loves hiking! Also, you will see lots of Alpacas!!!

Not enough hiking in stunning scenery
Helga_G, Nov 2023
Stunning scenery but not enough time to do all the exploring I wanted to do. I was under the wrong impression that this tour would hike around the lake and not just down to the lake
Absolutely amazing!!!

An amazing day trip in Ecuadorian nature!

This was an incredible trip to Lake Quilotoa, which is a simply breathtaking volcanic crater in the Ecuadorian Andes. I cannot recommend this trip enough for anyone looking to see some of the natural beauty of Ecuador, but who either cannot or does not want to do a several days trip. The day starts out early, leaving from Quito and driving south to Quilotoa. There are several stops along the way, to see the volcanoes, and visit a local market and indigenous shop. Gabriel, my guide, did an amazing job explaining the history of the area and the people. After reaching Quilotoa, we had approximately 3 hours to hike down and back up the volcano, which is an amazing experience. The hike is rather steep and difficult, but i think it’s very doable. After, we ate lunch and headed back home. It was a long day, with about 7 hours in total of driving in the bus, but it was an amazing way to see some of Ecuador outside of the cities. Both the host and driver were extremely gracious, and I always felt safe. I definitely recommend this trip!

We had a wonderful time on this tour!! The tour guide Alex, was absolutely phenomenal; he was friendly, funny and knowledgeable!! He made the tour exciting and had such a great energy! The tour was great, would recommend to small groups or solo! My only recommendation would be is to bring good hiking shoes!! 10/10, would do this again! :)

a very nice tour. prepare to have some coins on you though while visiting the local family or giving tips. for sure take a mule at Quilotoa as it is not only tiring but very sandy as well, so my black clothing, for example, became all white. The lunch is basic but at a nice place. recommended.
This was an awesome, full day...

This was an awesome, full day actually gone from my hotel almost 11 hours tour. The Lake is amazing and you can hike down and ride a horse or mule back up mules have more stamina... I recommend that. The stop on the way at the market and local's hut was also really cool and broke up the drive to the lake. Lunch after the lake hike was great, but the 3 hour ride back to Quito was a bit hard at the end. Highly recommend this tour. The guides were awesome and really informative.

Quilotoa is a beautiful location. The guide was knowledgeable and helpful. The driver was excellent and careful. The round trip from Quito took hours but it was time well spent.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS...

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY They tell you what you pay is all inclusive and once on trip the tour guide (omar) will try and milk you for more money, for enterance fees, and he takes you to see how a local tribes live where bunch of kids in new fashion clothes are and asks for $.
Response from Host, Nov 2016
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your tour experience. Please note, we always recommend that our guest view our Inclusions and Exclusions page before travel to ensure they are prepared for any additional fees while on tour. For this particular excursion, the additional fees include Mule rental at $10 per person, Kayak rental at $4 per person, and Quilotoa entrance fees at $2 per person. We are sorry to hear you were not aware of these fees prior to taking your tour, but we hope you were still able to enjoy your remaining time in Quito.
