What To Expect

Meet your guide and small group at the metro stop just opposite the Colosseum. Your tour group is limited to 15 people or fewer to ensure personalized attention and an intimate atmosphere. Begin your whirlwind tour of the most important sites of ancient Rome with express entry to the Colosseum, skipping the long entry lines. 

Walk around the first and second tiers of this Rome landmark, learning about the basic facts as well as some more esoteric knowledge, such as the hand signals that emperors used to condemn combatants and the daily lives of the gladiators. 

Head for the commercial and political heart of the empire: the Roman Forum. On the way, pass Temple of the Vestal Virgins, the final resting place of emperor Julius Caesar and the arch of Constantine. 

Trek up to the top of Palatine Hill, where you pause to hear the legend of Romulus and Remus, the mythological twins who founded Rome. Through our guide's commentary, come to a better understanding of the importance of this once-great empire.

  • The tour meeting time is 15 minutes prior to the start time and prompt arrival is essential. Late arrival will result in entry refusal and loss of tour cost.
  • Each traveler must present a valid passport or ID document that matches the name provided at the time of booking for successful entry to the Colosseum and Roman Forum.

      Such a great walking tour! Amber was a fantastic guide, so enthusiastic and interesting. 3 hrs went by so quickly. Highly recommend this tour.

      Extremely disappointing. Guide didn’t speak English very well , but he also appeared to be intoxicated or ill. He fell asleep standing against a wall during the tour. Some of the information that we could make out was more about movies than historical facts. Four members out of the ten in the group left halfway through the tour.

      Our tour guide was fantastic! (I believe it was Stephanie-Canadian but has lived in Rome for 10 years). She shared so much factual information with our small group but kept it interesting and entertaining. Definitely worth the money.

      It was supposed to be a small group but we got combined with another group to make 30. Group was too large and the guide was too quick with such a large group. By the time the end of the group caught up we missed whatever he was talking about. Disappointed (and we have used Viator many times) with this experience as we had paid to be in a small group<15.

      Our trip leader was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English. The pace was just right. Bathroom breaks were scheduled if necessary. The lengh of the tour was just right, about 2 1/2 hours. I highly recommend this tour.

      Our tour guide was Flavia and she was very knowledgeable. I quite like the fact that the tour was more of a walking lecture on the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. She was very patient, especially since some in the group were quite slow and some were struggling with the amount of walking. We did walk a great deal but otherwise we would not have been able to see what we saw. I would have liked to have her take us through the Palatine Hill area with further explanation of the sites, but as I mentioned before our group wasn't physically able to continue and we ran out of time. I did go on my own afterwards though.

      Our Pompei tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. Our tour was on Aug 29 at 11am. Our tour guide had a great sense of humour as she shared her knowledge with comedy. I recommend this tour.

      Mauro was a very knowledgeable, entertaining, patient and hospitable guide. Giving a tour like that and keeping it engaging for three hours in the baking sunshine is not easy, but Mauro did a great job of bringing the coliseum, imperial palace and forum to life, answering our questions, and keeping our spirits high.
