Our guide, Diana, was terrific at getting input from participants (15) and modifying the itinerary to accommodate repeated episodes of rain. Despite the absence of glorious vistas, we thoroughly enjoyed the hike. For example, she pointed out the Puerto Rican tody and described its nesting in mud banks, taught us how to locate well-camouflaged walking sticks, and discussed the mimosa, a plant whose leaves fold upon contact with humans (or other objects) and was used to help locate fleeing slaves. Throughout the entire tour, including a short detour to the coast and a lunch of local food, she talked about the many cultures contributing to the complexity and vibrancy of Puerto Rican life in a personal and often-humorous way.
Wow…What a nature hike in the El Yunque Rainforest

@Luis was a wonderful passionate tour guide sharing his knowledge in the small animals and plants we saw as we hiked. Last stop was at a watering pool that was so refreshing.
