Informative food tour
Gabrielle_S, May 2024
Ricardo was so informative about the history and culture of puerto rico and it’s food. Besides the rain, we had a great time.
Rain but great
Elizabeth_N, May 2024
Emely was great! We had rain, rain, and some more rain. She had ponchos for the group and had to rearrange some places so that we weren't outside getting wet. Very much appreciated. I liked learning some of the history and eating at different places. Emely took pictures and showed us buildings and places that were special to PR. My favorite spot was the cafe we began (Cuatro Sombras). I liked it so much that I went back before we left PR to buy some coffee to take with me. The coffee cup size we were given during the tour was small but it was good. I also liked the maji Maji nuggets and the bacalaitos from Triana's Restaurante, reminded me of when Mami made them. We also went back there to eat when we purchased the coffee. I liked the food from Casa Luna but the Piña Colada was weak so I didn't want to go back there (first impressions matter). My husband didn't get alcohol with his but I did so I was able to compare. I like Piña Coladas and could tell they didn't add enough rum. It tasted like just a hint of rum, at best. I don't think the last stop, for Gelatos was PR based at all. It was good but it just didn't go with the PR cuisine to me. I would definitely recommend going on a food tour but hope that it's a beautiful day and if it's not, they got you covered either way. Belly was full and my heart was happy. Thank you for the great experience Emely!
Great food experience

We had a wonderful time, our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Be prepared for some slightly hilly terrain but the walk wasnt too bad. Be prepared to make your own Mofongo...mine came out perfect.
Engaging local tour

Gwen was an amazing local tour guide. She was fun and well-versed in the history and customs of Old San Juan. The food came with a story or activity. Very interactive tour that showed us the hidden gems of the city. Gwen was engaging, interesting and made us feel like family.

Ricardo was an amazing and knowledgeable tour guide and made sure we had fun every step of the way. Thank you for the fun memories! Will definitely come back in the future.
Definitely not worth the money

This was a really lame tour and I would not recommend it. The best part of it was Claudia, the tour guide, and her lovely personality. For reference, we stayed at the Condado Vanderbuilt and enjoyed several thrill-seeking tours and wonderfully delicious, pricey meals during our trip. This was our most expensive tour per person and I don’t see the value in it at all. The best part was the coffee and half breakfast croissant in the very beginning. You are better off googling restaurants and creating your own food tour. This just wasn’t a good time, good food, or good educational experience.
Amazing experience!

Pablo was an amazing, VERY knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. We felt completely comfortable being taken around San Juan with him. The food was amazing. Especially the first stop, Cuatro Sombras. Coffee and & sandwich. It was that good we are going back later this week. We HIGHLY recommend this tour! And if you get lucky enough to have Pablo as your tour guide you will be in great hands!
Not worth the money

I wish I had more positive things to say about this experience but unfortunately it was just mediocre. We paid $170 per person hoping this would be for a high quality tasting experience, however, the food was average and not at all what we were hoping for, certainly not the best that San Juan has to offer. The first stop was excellent with local coffee and a ham, cheese and guava paste wrap and it made us excited for what was to come but unfortunately that was the highlight of the tour. The next stop was a popsicle which was just weird and unnecessary. I will say, our guide was great and very knowledgeable and the tour itself was very accommodating to my friend and I who are gluten free. It also felt more like a historical tour than a food tour as there was a lot of pausing and stops to share a lengthy history of the city which was interesting but also not what we paid for.
Excellent way to see Puerto Rico old town, learn history, and enjoy great food.

Excellent experience. Claudia was a great host and was very informative about Puerto Rico history and what it's like to grow up there. Food stops were very good and we're a nice combination of foods.

Great tour with a phenomenal tour giude! Ricardo was absolutely amazing! He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of old San Juan and Puerto Rico, you can tell he loves his job. Not only did we get to experience different food but we got to see beautiful and historical landmarks and learn about the culture and historical events. Ricardo made sure to make it interesting and add some humor to the mix! Definitely recommend and if you have the chance to tour with Ricardo you’ll be in for a treat! Highly recommended!
Food substandard. Didn't even receive an entire cup of coffee. Recommend high end restaurants with good food.
