We were picked by Steve at a hotel at Sedona to Williams, to catch the train which took us to the Grand Canyon. Lunch and water was given out prior to boarding the train. Although the scenery was reasonably good along the way, it became monotonous after a while. We were a bit disappointed that we did not see the Grand Canyon at any time during the train trip. At the Grand Canyon Train Depot, we left the train and was given about three quarter of an hour to see the Canyon. Steve Took us to see the Canyon at several different spots, Bright Angel Trailhead, Pipe Creek Vista, Moran Point and Finally at the Desert View Watchtower. He escorted us on these short hikes, told us valuable information about the Canyon. We saw the Colorado river cutting and running through the Canyon at several sports. I would rate the group van tour as superb, but the train trip as OK. We most strongly recommend Steve Benson as a guide (Great Venture Tours) for the Grand Canyon Tour. He is the best guide we have even seen - knowledgeable, enthusiastic and good time management.

Great trip!
Raymond_L, May 2024
Just the sheer magnitude of the upper desert and changing landscape as the train increased in elevation was a unique experience. Craig was our coach attendant and was professional and entertaining! Great ambassador of the Railroad.
Great time

Our driver JR was fabulous and made everything fun and interesting. The description and pick up points could have been better described.
Amazing tour
Patricia_J, Apr 2024
The tour guide (Sheldon Finkelstein of Great Venture Tours) was amazing. We were supposed to take the train into the park and hook up with him again there. We were so glad to change that plan so that we skipped the train and did the whole tour with Son. We entered the park at the east entrance (avoiding lots of traffic). We spent our time seeing the canyon first! Sheldon took us to places where the crowds weren’t…off the beaten path. We ended at the south rim. Sheldon’s knowledge was incredible! We learned so much and he answered every question. He made sure our creature comforts were met. We bonded so well that 5 different groups ate lunch together. Sheldon always gave us options for how long we stopped. We were picked up at 8:15 in Flagstaff and were dropped off at 5:45.
An Enjoyable Trip to the Grand Canyon

If you enjoy trains this is a fun way to get to the Grand Canyon. Cat, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and knew the area so well that we got the most of our time at the South Rim. I would highly recommend this tour.

Our Tour Guide, Cat was amazing. She was super fun, kind and knowledgeably. Her genuine conversation and wishes for us to have an amazing experience was noted and appreciated.

The tour guide Steve Benson was very cordial, compassionate, and most of all extremely knowledgeable about the history and geology of Grand Canyon!! Wonderful trip due to courtesy of the tour guide Steve.
Knowledgeable Tour Guide
Victoria_P, Mar 2024
Our tour guide was fantastic, super knowledgeable, and learned a lot along the drive to and from! The train ride was cute, I think a good experience for families with kids…root beer floats available for purchase on board were delicious, the scenery was okay.
Fun day
Glen_H, Dec 2023
Our overall experience was great. Our guide, Mark, did a fantastic job and truly made our trip the most enjoyable one of the day. Very detailed and passionate for the area!. All of the staff on the train did a great job. However, our group thought the train ride could be shortened a tad to give you more time at the Grand Canyon. Also thought the train ride was going to show more majestic views of the canyon.
Misleading description of the tour.
edmund_g, Oct 2023
I felt the description of the tour was very misleading. It is not a 10 hour train tour of the canyon. It is an unimpressive train ride to the canyon followed by a Van tour of the canyon. The tour guide (Cat) on the van was fantastic! Not her fault the van broke down!
Amazing experience highly recommended

We loved everything. From the beginning of the tour to the end of the tour. Our tour guide Andrea she was the best and was very educated about the area and a very helpful to all our needs. We especially loved the Grand Canyon it’s simply breathtaking . If we come back to Sedona and do another tour we will ask for Andrea to be our guide.

Train ride was not very exciting. Travel guide was on time , professional and knowledgeable . She took us to some beautiful viewing spots. Would recommend Adrea as a guide. Made the experience truly memorable.
Grand Canyon Adventure, A must see and do!
Melinda_G, Jul 2023
My husband and I took 6 our grandkids ranging in age from 6-14, they had a great time. Lots to see and do on this all day tour. Having someone guide you through our entire trip was a must ! Andrea was on time , both ways , friendly , very very knowledgeable , patient with our 6 grandkids , we were lucky to have her as our guide for the whole day. It was a long day but well worth the time and money. She drove and guided us through the National forest stopped to share with us the amazing views. Andrea is very passionate about her job and we are happy she shared her love and knowledge of nature and the American Indians who first inhabited Sedona. Thank you Andrea from the Garza clan.
Good trip

Easy way to travel from Sedona to the Grand Canyon while seeing the beauty and wild life the area has to offer
Do not book the train unless you're into that!!
Alisia_J, Jun 2023
My tour guide was great and the Tour took me from Sedona to Oak Creek Canyon, Flag Staff and then on to the Grand Canyon. It was a wonderful experience and I'll be booking again next year! I will be opting out of the train because you are stuck on it for 2 hours, it was boring and some parents allow their kids to talk a little too much to other passengers...I was on a solo trip and wanted peace and quiet. Overall it was a wonderful experience!!
Great day! One of the best days of our trip
Tabitha_R, May 2023
This was our first trip to the Grand Canyon. We were picked up at 7:30 am by JR who was full of knowledge about Sedona, the Grand Canyon , the Navajo Reservation and other interesting information. That in itself was worth the money. The train ride itself was interesting, not a lot to see but the staff was all fun and personable. We went one way to the Canyon and our guide drove us back stopping at A reservation gift area that the people were very kind and enjoyed talking to them. We definitely would do it again.

Guided Tour of Grand Canyon
Amanda_P, Feb 2023
The railroad was a fun way to travel to the Grand Canyon. Our van tour guide Al was very informative and took extra care to make sure we had opportunities to visit additional views along the South Rim.
