What To Expect

One of the world’s foodie hotspots, Singapore is known for a diverse culinary scene that ranges from street-food stalls to high-end gourmet eateries. Its cuisine takes in influences from Malay, Chinese, Indian and British cultures, creating a vibrant food heaven.

Upon arrival at your cooking class with your fellow chefs-in-training, put on an apron and get to work with your experienced instructors. During the step-by-step lesson, learn how to prep and cook three dishes, such as chicken satay or laksa (noodle soup), while your mouth waters from the enticing aroma of spices and seasonings.

When you’re finished cooking, sit down in the dining area to enjoy your creations with your class members in a relaxed, informal atmosphere that will be the cultural highlight of your stay in Singapore.

My sister and I booked a Cooking class with Food Playground whilst on holiday in Singapore. We had a wonderful time and met some lovely, fun people. Mary and Annie were wonderful, warm and knowledgeable ladies. Our class was very well organised and we cooked some very delicious food! I would definitely recommend Food Playground.

Excellent instructor (Ann) and assistant Joan. Very informative about Singaporean cuisine delivered in a fun, interactive way. Really enjoyed we all fully participated in the cooking process and then sat together to enjoy the meal we had prepared.

A Cultural feast!

Our instructor, Annie, was a joy as she shared both her knowledge and her heart for Singaporean cooking. She was encouraging as we went along. Another fun feature was meeting people from other places. In our case, we had a fellow American couple, a lady from the Netherlands, another from Perth, Australia and one local Singaporean woman. It was fun to share stories. Finally, the food itself was excellent, especially the chicken curry and roti jala
Great experience

I had such a great experience with Ann and Helen learning how to cook Singaporean food in a traditional style. The class was interactive, fun, and full of lessons. I feel very confident in being able to make these dishes once I get back home. I would recommend any foodie or cook to take this course!
Yummy & FUN!

We had a wonderful time at Food Playground for our cooking class. It was so fun to experience cooking new cuisines- our 8 & 10 year old children could easily participate alongside of us. Highly recommend!
The best cooking class in Singapore (we took a few)

The class was great! It was very organized, clean and in one of the most convenient location. We cooked and ate what we made, it was all very well managed and guided. Also we got a gift tool for cooking that I really appreciate since I was wondering how to order one! Thanks
Hands on -tasty food class

Fun and informative class. Ann was great. Be prepared for some hands on cooking and preparation. She took care on the long lead time preparation that would have been impossible for a three hour class, but other than that, the participants were the cooks. Delicious food.
Absolutely perfect class

Mary really made this class what it was, she explained Singapore, food and the progression of how the food has come to be what it is. She was then really thorough with explaining what we were doing and why (while cooking). At the end, Mary explained Food Playground, Daniel (the owner) and the strong emphasis he has on the social aspect/helping mothers return to work, giving 'retired people' hours to keep them active which I gave no doubt will extend their lives etc. The fact he has so much emphasis on giving people an opportunity to work that may not have had it prior is absolutely beautiful and made the whole experience better.
I would do it again in a minute. Hahaha 🤣🤣

I always take cooking classes when I travel and this one did not disappoint! The instructor took us through step by step, explaining the ingredients and techniques and tradition. She was high energy and made it lots of fun.
Good way to learn about Singaporean cuisine
Albert_C, Nov 2023
Excellent fun morning learning not just how to cook some of the dishes (nyonya laksa, fried spring rolls and hoon kueh), but some of the food culture aspects and a few handy tips on where to eat in Singapore.
Total waste of time and money
Delicious_D, Nov 2023
First the contact number provided was not responding. I called several times as I could not find the place. Secondly no gas stove, recipe came out no tasty and not singaporean standard. Thirdly the concept of making home stay mothers teaching this class is a total scam ! Trying to get sympathy by getting unprofessional cook to teach cooking and increase sympathy. The teacher kept talking and talking. Forth filming myself doing the recipe was not allowed by the teacher. So disorganised and complete waste of time and money. I feel it was a total scam. It would be better i use that money and bought street food. I wish Viator send a mystery shoper there and close that place
Singapore food experience
