The Taronga Zoo was one of the highlights of our family trip to Sydney. A must visit. You get ferry ride. You have an excellent view of the city.

Taronga Zoo with hop on hop off ferry
biggeman, Mar 2024
Some exhibits were good as long as you got there when it was feeding time, otherwise the animal was not to be seen. A lot of construction in areas limiting access to some animals, Tasmanian devils area was closed. We left somewhat disappointed. Still was wonderful to see some of the species.
Easy and on time

The cruise was easy and timely. Cruises were clean and seem in good condition. Good ports. Highly recommend.
Great way to spend time in Sydney
Clifton_S, Mar 2024
The hop on hop off cruise is a great way to get around Sydney, although it would be nice to have a few more/different stops. We all loved the Taronga zoo even though many animals were nor on display due to all of the construction.
Great to see Sydney from water view.

Wonderful way to spend the day. Great value as tickets to TARONGA zoo were $59. I went to Watson Bay and hiked. Didn’t eat at the famous fish and chips restaurant but it looked and smelled delicious. Time schedule was tricky. Workers were able to guide.
Relaxed tour of the harbor

Boat schedule can leave some waiting but very nice to have less crowds than the public ferry. Two days was more relaxed. Zoo fantastic. Watson Cove was very special. Might include stop at Shark Island next time.
Nice day at the Zoo

Encounter with the Koalas. Very interesting set-up to see them very close. It was unfortunate that the cable car was no more in operation.
Hop/ on tour

The zoo was excellent and transportation was fast. If the weather is nice the other places may be worth visiting. Unless you have a picnic or want to be on the beach, the hop/on really best to just view the places around the harbor.
Poor experience
Sandra_B, Jan 2024
Poor communication about wharf being closed, and poor directions for walking to Circular Quay from shore staff. Very disappointed. Ferry personnel were professional.
try it! you'll like it!

Hop on Hop off ferry with Zoo tickets is worth the time and the money!
Paula_G, Dec 2023
The Toronga Zoo was a very special place. There were animals from Australia but also from around the world.. You SHOULD get to the counter for tickets at about 9:00 a.m. as suggested. The next ferry is at 10:30! The food was not great at the food court and it was a madhouse at around 12:30. No place to sit after you get your food. Suggest you get to the zoo early and then take the ferry to Manli Beach where there are great restaurants. Your zoo ticket is good for the day so you can go back if you like! But Manli Beach is definitely worth the time for a visit.
Very nice

We were impressed with the zoo, such a beautiful facility to wonder around and see the animals and the view of the city
Nice
Venkatarao_I, Dec 2023
Beautiful boat ride, really enjoyed the Sydney Harbour, skyline and bridge views. This tour is well worth the time and money spent. Hop on and off for two days gave us plenty of time to explore all the stops on the way including the torongo zoo. It’s a beautiful experience to see so many Koalas, kangaroos and wallabies. Boat ride is very relaxing. Highly recommend it.
Fantastic Zoo and Nice...

Fantastic Zoo and Nice shows!! It's a great place to go with family and enjoy the weekend. The service is good and there are many animals there.

We had to cancel our trip and it was late Friday so we did not get a chance to view the harbor and my special interest the Zoo.
Not worth it! Do it on your own.

Communication between Viator and Captain Cook Cruises was limited. I suggest you take the city ferry instead of this cruise to get around as they have limited shuttles and they do not wait around if they arrive early nor do you have any idea where they will dock hence why we missed 2 shuttles and were stuck on the Taronga Zoo island. The city ferries run much more often and you can't miss them--they don't sneak up on the pier and leave without warning. The Taronga Zoo was great but Watson's Bay was just okay. (besides Doyle's restaurant, not much else to do) and of course because of Captain Cook's limited schedule in ferries, we never made it to the other 2 locations of Manley Beach or Shark Island. You can easily do this tour on your own just using the city ferries.
Very scenic

Was lovely sitting on the top deck with the fresh air and beautiful scenery. Had a lovely time. We did taronga one day and just did a cruise around the harbour the next.
Nice zoo . Though Inaccessible for disabled .
Jeanette_D, Aug 2023
My daughter has down syndrome asthma and other issues. She needed a wheelchair . Unfortunately the zoo is virtually inaccessible but the worst most diabolical thing is that when we got to the bottom I had to bring her all the way back up to drop off the wheelchair. Thankfully she got out (with some persuasion) and walked up a bit otherwise I couldn't have managed . My advise to the zoo is let people drop off the chair at the bottom . My advise to people is bring your own chair or don't bother coming. Not only that some of the zoo was closed off and they have a real cheek charging to go to the top because the bottom entrance us closed.
Zoo is fabulous!

The Zoo is a must see regardless of whether you have children or are in your own. The hop on hop off boat was nice but the return schedule was not very flexible in the morning. I bought the combined ticket but was only interested in seeing the zoo. The combination ticket probably wasn’t necessary for a day trip to only the zoo. There are plenty of ferry services that might have a more extensive drop off and delivery schedule.
Highly recommend.

Great ride on the boats. Easy to use. Saw the zoo and it was great to see kangaroos koalas and wallabys. Recommend highly. Lion exhibit was closed. The other exhibits allow visitors to get really close to the animal habitat. Some enclosures seemed on the small side.
