Please don’t book this tour

I’m not one to leave a bad review, but truly the worst tour experience. The drivers were rude and drove irresponsibly. Then in Salzburg, the drivers dropped one of our vans off in the wrong location with no direction where the rest of our group was. Two of the guests that were left lost were over 70 years old and another guest was severely disabled with brain cancer. We were also told we would have a tour guide meet us at 11:30 and no one was there until 1:00. Please don’t book this vendor. Super unprofessional. We ended up booking other transportation back to Vienna.

Easiest way to view beautiful scenery

It was a great way to see places that we could not have found on our own. The car was nice with huge windows so we could view the scenery on the way. Victor was extremely prompt and gave great directions on where to go and what time to meet up

Not a very good experience

First of all, I want to say actually this was a very good tour to visit but: 8 of us started with the tour in a very happy mood because will visit 3 places in a day, but end up with some disappointed emotion due to a happening after visited Hallstatt for a police inspection between driver, there caused we reached Salzburg in very late evening and couldn’t visit sightseeing in very dark condition. Driver is patience & pleasant but the happenings caused us been wasted time just waiting inside van for about 2 1/2 hours and we didn’t know what’s the incident caused.

The scenery in the Alps were beautiful. Hallstatt was beautiful as well. Unfortunately our tour guide had very little knowledge of the locations that we visited. We were looking forward to. Learning about and seeing were some of the scenes from Sound of Music were filmed. Our tour guide had zero knowledge of the locations

Beautiful cities

Deyan was an excellent driver on this private trip. He was very nice, and gave us a great drive around these beautiful cities. Now I must say this is not a guided tour, it is simply a tour where you get dropped off in the cities. Deyan did give us a map in Salzburg where you can see the different Sound Of Music sites.

Worthwhile locations but we expected more from the private tour

Our request for 2 hotel pick-up and drop-off points were well-accommodated. The three locations were impressive and worth visiting. Our driver was able to provide options for drop-off and pick-up for the 3 locations when we shared our concern about our senior citizen companions. How we wished that our driver shared more about what is special with the locations. It was a disappointment that he only answered whenever we asked. We soon found out that our driver was not from the area and was only 2-3 months in Vienna. How we wished we were provided more interesting facts about the locations. In Salzburg, we were just dropped off in one area and we were provided a map for us to explore. We expected that we will be dropped off in filming locations, but we were left to roam around on our own. It would have been better off to join a Sound of Music tour but we had less time to join one. Generally, it was a worthwhile experience, but how we wished we were toured well.

Excellent driver, but not a tour guide. He drove us to our destinations and was very personable, however when we read “private tour”, we had expected that it was going to be guided at each destination with information as we followed our guide- maybe just a mistake on our part for what we read on the site.

Our Driver Christian gave us superlative service, giving us plenty of time to enjoy our stops and ensuring we saw everything we wanted, as well as everything we needed to see. Chris provided numerous good detailed recommendations that made the most of our time and itenerary. His driving and manners were exemplary. We also enjoyed conversing about Austria, and he shared many anecdotes about things to see in Vienna, as well as his broad knowledge about Austria and its people and history. Not a trip I would recommend

6 of us took this trip - family and friends- all adults. The car was very comfortable with good leg room. Lucaour driver was friendly and helpful But, I have serious concerns about the safety of this trip. It covers 720 km so most of the day is spent driving. A lot of the driving was 150-160km p hr. these trips are run day after day back to back by the same people. That makes me nervous. The trip is not 12 hours as advertised. It is at least 14. Personallly, the Benedictine Monastery at Melk wasn’t really my thing. We didn’t stop there long enough to explore fully and the driver drops you off so there is no guide to take you round and explain things. And you have to pay to go in. Even though we arrived very early we had to circumvent large coachloads of people. It was a pretty spot though and a world UNESCO heritage site. Saltzberg is small - pretty centre and nice to walk round but by the time you’ve had lunch there isn’t time to go up the cable car or go to the museums and the lack of a guide makes it difficult to really maximise your time there. If I was to go again I would plan that part in advance myself very carefully. Hallstatt was gorgeous. A real gem. It was pouring down when we visited which was a shame. Still worth visiting though. We had very little time there. No time to visit the salt mines or take a boat trip. For my money we’re u to be in Bienna and looking for a day trip I would take the trip to Hallstatt only and visit the mines. It is a 3 hour drive there from Vienna.

Tour of Salzburg and Melk and Hallstatt

We got a private car and our driver/guide Kris was excellent. He was knowledgable and courtues. My recommendation is to take this tour if you want to get an overview of what to do at these locations. Melk abby is on the way to Salzburg we stopped for 45 mins, if you are a real history buff I would recommend coming back on your own and spending half a day, as there is the museum and gardens to see, which cost additional. For Salzburg, I know for my self I would need a whole day as there is so much to do and see. But since we were in Vienna for a short time, this was great. Hallstatt also depends on how much you want to stay and what you want to do. Next time I am in town I would go to Salzburg spend a day there and the next day go to Hallstatt as I would like to see the salt mines and spend more time in the town. The thing is the driver on the way to Hallstatt took us through the alpine route which is very beautiful. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get a good overall view of these towns.

Salzburg a disappointment

Skip Salzburg, it was a disappointment. It is unclean and the buildings are not as well kept as Vienna. The Monastery in Melk was okay, however take the path into the little village which is way more interesting and you can view the monastery from the outside. Spend more time in Hallstatt, it is stunning, one of the most beautiful spots on earth. More time there would have allowed us to do more in this most beautiful area. Our driver was great, prompt, safe and courteous. Skip Salzburg, a waste of time,

Luka was very informative Great knowledge of the places we visited . We did not feel rushed at all . He allowed us plenty of time in each place and was very accommodating to our requests . We were a family of 8 and all had a great time .Hallstatt was our favorite place to visit definitely spend at least 2 hours there , Salzburg also worth spending 2-3 hours there .start early , we started at 8 , it’s a long day for these tour guides , the earlier you start the better .
