What To Expect

Make your own way to the famed hall to begin your evening. Admire the venue's unique blend of history and magnificent modern flair, with four ballrooms and a large terrace with views over Stadtpark.

Settle into your selected seat and relax as the Salonorchester Alt Wien concert begins. Soak up a show filled with waltzes, polkas, operetta and piano concerto melodies, accompanied by ballet dancers and opera vocalists. Hear pieces such as Mozart’s ‘Rondo alla Turca’ and the overture to the opera Le Nozze di Figaro, as well as Strauss’ ‘A Little Night Music,’ ‘On the Beautiful Blue Danube' and more.

If you've booked a VIP ticket, enjoy prime seating in the first two rows and a glass of sparkling wine during at intermission. You also receive a Johann Strauss CD and a Kursalon Orchestra program to take home.

After the performance, make your own way back to your hotel or linger in the area to continue your evening out in Vienna.

Unfortunately the venue, organizers and show was below expectations. I wore short sleeves and was mandated to check in coat and in return received a dirty used blanket. The staff was rude and the show did not meet the description of the event.

Had a wonderful experience. It was a night of singing, dancing & classical music. Seats are on a first come basis, so I would recommend getting there earlier for best seats.

An excellent short dip into Vienna’s famous music. Good artists and variety. Recommended if you do not want to do a full opera or concert. Perhaps a bit more Mozart… and fewer Strauss pieces…? Lovely venue.

Great building at the end of the park. Fantastic musicians. You can have a glass of wine at the brake (pay). They don't let you get inside with your jacket so you pay 2eur extra to hang it.

Oh my, this was absolutely amazing!!! We had front row seats, the musicians were sooooo good - the female and male singers amazing and the dancers just brilliant.

Expertly performed - thoroughly enjoyable evening. Easy to get to. Details were given in English as well as German as the concert progressed so we could appreciate the music. Tunes still playing in my head. Definitely worth doing on a the trip to Vienna.

Kursalon - a tourist selfie haven?

Went to a Strauss and Mozart concert on 2 January. Exchanging on-line tickets for paper tickets (which had to be signed for) and being directed to two different queues to hand coats in caused confusion and delay, but this was a minor inconvenience for what was to follow. As soon as the music started people began waving their mobile phones to film, the man in front of me was on FaceTime with his family throughout the concert and the folks behind us talked non-stop. The young couple next to me entertained themselves by playing games on their phones, pulling faces and taking selfies. Why the constant use of mobile phones? Can't we simply enjoy the moment and let the people around us do the same?

The show was top-notch, delivering an unforgettable classical experience. I would have liked to hear more of the known pieces of Strauss and Mozart but still amazing experience. My advice to fellow travelers is to get there early (45 mins) as the venue tends to get crowded. Also, be prepared to pay for coat check.

The concert was great, the experience in the theater, not so much. They forced us to check our coats at an additional cost. The concert area was somewhat cool and I would have like to hang onto it. After the show only 2 people were handing out coats, taking an additional 20 minutes to leave the building. Felt very touristy, skip this one if you’re looking for a professional experience.
