What To Expect

Meet a guide at an office in central Vienna, where you’ll get fitted with a fatbike, and learn how to use the electric assist, which can help you get up hills without breaking a sweat. Go over the tour itinerary then hit the road, following the fortified walls of the Danube Canal to the top of the Kahlenberg, Vienna’s tallest hill.

This is the perfect place to get an overview of the city and enjoy a light snack with panoramic views. After a short break, continue downhill to the village of Nussdorf and onto the Danube Island, where you’ll have a unique view back towards the city.

Keep riding along the banks of the Danube River, then stop for a traditional Austrian biking snack of a bratwurst sausage and a radler, a refreshing mix of lemonade and beer. As you make your way back to the original departure point, follow tree-lined streets designed for cyclists and pedestrians, a laid-back end to a relaxed ride through the city.

A nice change of pace! Despite some issues.

Pros: the bikes were a lot of fun, our guide ensured no one got left behind, small group of 6, the route was largely outside the metro area and allowed us to ride comfortably without having to worry about vehicle traffic, multiple stops at public water fountains. Ensure you ask for water at the beginning of the tour as it was supposed to be included per our ticket details but we received it only after asking. Cons: the lunch stop did not take card (so we were unable to purchase lunch and additional water). Never received the "fruit or museli" the "bratwurst" or the "Radler" that were supposed to be included our ticket prices. I began getting a bit lightheaded towards the end of the ride and while our guide was very kind he seemed I'll equipped to deal with the situation (only having us stop for 3-4 mins/ offering water and then asking me to finish the ride) we were less then 15 mins from the start point I thought perhaps someone could have came to pick me and the bike up or have at least had that option offered as it had been an unseasonably hot day (+90°) and we'd been outside for 4+ hours. The failures we experienced largely fall on the company and not the guide, and despite them we still had a good time.

Definitely worthwhile.

Our tour guide, Jaime was energetic, friendly, and knowledgeable obout the sights on the bike tour. He kept us on a comfortable pace and took care that we were all together.

Not sure I would recommend this tour.

Let me begin with what was definitely not a highlight of this 4 person 4 hour tour- that of a trash incinerator. Given all the things to see in Vienna, this wasn’t one of them. The smell will linger… Now on to safety equipment or lack of it. The bikes we had lacked bells, water bottle holders, and helmets were not offered. Two minutes into the tour a participant asked for a helmet (the tour guide was the only one of the 7 of us (reminder it is a 4 person tour)). She was told- did you ask for one? Not exactly safety focused. Next the tour was nearly 50% oversold, so it was difficult to hear the guide, who frequently started speaking before we could hear. At one stop it was noticed one of the participants was missing- ensue search and rescue mission. In previous small person bike tours it was easy to spot someone missing, but clearly not on this one… The four hour tour, turned out to be 3 hours, this included some backtracking, that could have been avoided if the route was better planned. The tour was to include bottled water, snacks (bratwurst) and a glass of wine or radler or soft drinks. As well as a piece of fruit or musseli bar. But instead, we were offered to purchase wine or a snack at a local winery (which by the way was the highlight of the tour). I would describe this tour as a contemporary cycle around the 18th and 22nd district, peppered with present day information.
