Modeled after similar river-spanning bridges in Seville, Spain, and Redding, California, Puente de la Mujer is notable for its big steel needle jutting at a sharp angle into the sky, which serves as an anchor for the suspension cables and holds up the entire span. An interesting function of the bridge is its rotating feature to let water traffic pass through: the mobile section making up the center of the bridge is able to rotate 90 degrees.

Puente de la Mujer spans a channel named Rio Dique in the harborside Puerto Madero district. The closest underground metro options are line A to Plaza de Mayo, or line B to Leandro N. Alem. The bridge is within a short walking distance of many major hotels and attractions, including the Plaza de Mayo.
You can visit El Puente de la Mujer any time you wish, including nighttime—the bridge lights up after dark. You don’t need to spend much time here, just long enough for a stroll across, but there is plenty to do in Puerto Madero, so it’s worth dedicating a few hours to the neighborhood.
One of Buenos Aires’ more recently developed neighborhoods, Puerto Madero is a revitalized dockside area that’s filled with high-rise buildings and revived brick warehouses that have been converted into some of the city's most desirable hotels and restaurants. There are a number of art museums and galleries in the area, including the Faena Arts Center and the Fortabat Art Collection, as well as waterside paths that are a pleasure to stroll.
