While many people come to Pa Phru Tha Pom Khlong Song Nam simply to take in its beauty, one of the best ways to experience the area is in a canoe or kayak. Rentals are available by the hour or the day, and guided multi-day tours that combine hiking and boating depart from Krabi if you really want to immerse themselves in nature. From the park entrance you can paddle all the way to the Andaman Sea.
Pa Phru Tha Pom Khlong Song Nam is located about 21 miles (34 kilometers) outside the town of Krabi. Most people come here as part of a guided tour that includes transportation from Krabi or other area resort spots. The journey takes around half an hour by car.
The park is open year round, every day, but the waters are at their clearest during periods of low tide. If you’re coming during one of the hotter periods of the year (particularly in April and May), opt for a morning tour or activity to avoid the worst heat of the day.
If you're very lucky, you might end up spotting a Rafflesia plant (sometimes referred to as a ""corpse flower"") during your visit, but you'll have to be even luckier to see it in bloom. The world’s largest flower can weigh upwards of 15 pounds (7 kilograms) and only blooms for a few days every year, often right after the rainy season.
