The shopping center is home to familiar national and international chains and Hawaii-made businesses, including local boutiques, candy shops, coffee roasteries, clothing stores, and more. There's often free live entertainment—from singing competitions to hula performances and fashion shows—in the central corridor stage. The Ala Moana Center is a stop on the hop-on hop-off Waikiki sightseeing shuttle (on the Pink Line) and many sightseeing tours.
Ala Moana Center is at 1450 Ala Moana Boulevard, Honolulu. TheBus lines from Waikiki (8, 19, 20, 23, 24, 42), Haleiwa on the North Shore (55), and the airport (19 or 20), stop at the center. The center is 30 minutes from Central Waikiki on foot along the waterfront over the Kahanamoku Lagoon—a nice walk if you can take it.
The building is open from mid-morning until mid-evening, seven days a week, year-round. Note, however, that individual shops may keep different hours. The mall is busiest on weekends and during public holidays. If you want to catch the live entertainment, check the calendar on the center’s website
Ala Moana Beach Park is just across from Ala Moana Center. Locals favor this less crowded beach, buying food at the mall and then picnicking near the water or firing the public barbecues. The beach is also popular with surfers, joggers, and tennis players (there are tennis courts).
