The basics

An included stop on many tours of Panama City, the Biomuseo has eight galleries of permanent exhibits, which explore 3 million years of Panamanian natural and cultural history. Temporary exhibitions at the Biomuseo change regularly and cover topics from Panamanian mammals to climate change, birds, and chile peppers. In the gardens, a series of themed areas highlight evolution, Panama’s domesticated plants, water, and the ecology of the Panama Canal.

What to do at Amador Causeway

Built with rock extracted from the Panama Canal, Amador Causeway links Panama City with four natural islands: Culebra, Naos, Flamenco, and Perico. The 3.7-mile (5.95-kilometer) causeway is popular for walking, cycling, and fishing. Kids love the splash pad at Floor Fountain Park, and this is one of the best places in town to watch a sunset over the Pacific Ocean.
