With plenty to do for visitors of all ages—and various dining, shopping, and nightlife options—Hillarys Boat Harbour is a pleasant spot to spend the day (or evening). Several seasonal activities take place at the harbor, such as stand-up paddleboard lessons and inflatable water rides for kids. Check to see what’s on when you’re there.
Boat tours depart from the area, and adventure-fishing and wildlife-watching cruises sometimes pass through the harbor. You’ll also find some accommodation options, as an alternative to staying in Perth.

Hillarys Boat Harbour is in the town of Hillarys, about 14 miles (23 kilometers) northwest of Perth—the drive takes roughly 25 minutes. Or, get there by train and bus from central Perth, which takes around an hour.
Summer (December through February) is a good time to cool off at Hillarys Boat Harbour, as Perth area summers tend to be very hot.
Just west of central Perth, beachside Fremantle is known for its history and Victorian-era architecture, as well as its long-running markets and artistic atmosphere. The neighborhood is also home to the Western Australian Maritime Museum.
