The Bonneville Salt Flats are a unique geological wonder seen in very few places around the world. We will travel there (1.5 hour drive one-way from Salt Lake City) in a 9 person Van. We'll share some amazing geological facts about the lake, it's history and current culture. The expansive wilderness and drive to the Salt Flats is simply incredible. The Salt Flats dry in the summer and typically wet in the winter. When wet, it's often calm, sending mirror like reflections of the mountains in the background. And in the dry season we can drive for miles along the pristine flats. If it's wet we'll bring our gum boots and walk out into the flats. The photo opportunities are endless! The Salt Flats are probably most famous for the speed races that take place there. Nearly all the land speed records held in the planet have been set or broken at the Bonneville Salt Flats. To reach the Salt Flats, we travel 100 miles west of Salt Lake City, close the Nevada border.

We will travel from Salt Lake through Parley's Canyon into the backside of the Wasatch mountain range (known as the Wasatch Back), passing historic Park City.
