Daehangno(Daehak-ro) is one of the South Korean capital’s most popular nightlife hot spots. Notable venues include the Batangol Art Center, Dongsung Art Center, and the Literary Arts Hall. Each venue has posters on the walls outside advertising what’s currently showing, which helps if you don’t speak Korean. Before you catch a show, grab some traditional Korean food in one of the neighborhood eateries.

Daehangno is very easy to reach via by public transportation. Take Line 4 of the Seoul Subway to Hyehwa Station and leave through Exit 2.

During the early summer months, Daehangno hosts the Seoul Theater Festival, with the Seoul Performing Arts Festival following in autumn. Both events stage dozens of performances, mostly in Korean but occasionally in English as well.
Live music isn’t the only draw to this trendy Seoul neighborhood. If you’re in the area on a Sunday, do some shopping at the Daehangno Philippine Market. The Lock Museum, located just northeast of Hyehwa Station, displays antique keys, locks, and furniture from around the globe, while nearby Namsan Park is one of the best places around for stellar views of Seoul.
