Now we have some of the most spectacular and dynamic harbours in New Zealand. Quail Island is the largest of three small islands in Lyttelton Harbour and rich in history. On this day trip, we explore Lyttelton Harbour and Quail Island.

On this stunning journey to Packhorse Hut, we visit all four of the historic “rest houses” that were once part of a grand walking experience over the Port Hills. The hut is situated on a saddle above Lyttelton Harbour with unforgettable views of the Harbour and Banks Penninsula. This scenic drive and walking tour start in Christchurch by driving up the Port Hills following the historical track up Dyer’s Pass road before heading south along Summit Road to Gebbies Pass. Our walk starts and finishes at Gebbie’s pass, is approximately 11km (6.8 Mi) and takes most groups 3-4 hrs of walking to reach the hut and return to Gebbie’s Pass. The track follows a gravel road before heading into pine forests. After 45mins we break out of the trees into open tussock grasslands. Reaching Packhorse Hut, you will time to explore the area while your guide prepares lunch. On the return journey, we return to Gebbies Pass then follow the scenic coastal road back to Christchurch.

Starting and finishing at Lyttleton, this excursion is a genuinely scenic experience. Visit some of the small settlements around both Lyttleton Harbour and Akaroa Harbours. Once airborne from Milford Sound, follow the famous Milford Track up the Arthur Valley and over the picturesque Lake Ada. Circle the Sutherland Falls, New Zealand's highest at 581m before making an alpine landing above the shores of breath taking Lake Quill. You will have the opportunity to take magical photos looking right down the Arthur Valley back towards Milford Sound. Return viewing the Mackinnon Pass, of the Milford Walking Track, and the Joe's river. Minimum of two passengers are required for this flight to go ahead. This flight covers a huge part of the Fiordland National Park - departing from the iconic Milford Sound you fly over a portion of the Milford Track - one of New Zealands Great Walks. What an easy way to see this track! If the weather is suitable, you may get views of one of New Zealands highest waterfalls - the Sutherland Falls. Heading south along Fiordlands main divide of mountains, many differing views appear including hidden alpine lakes, rocky mountain peaks and if you look really hard, some hardy animals like red deer. Descending over the mountains takes you closer to Lake Te Anau, Te Anau township and Lake Manapouri for landing at Te Anau Airport.

This exciting new product is the only one of its kind in New Zealand and is in collaboration with renowned Marine Mammal Biologist Dr Krista van der Linde who represents Kaikoura Marine Mammal Foundation. We depart in our Eurocopter and head out to explore the Hikurangi Marine reserve where the whales reside close to the Kaikōura coastline, during this time Krista will be happy to share her broad knowledge of all things marine with our guests and answer any questions they may have during the tour. After, we will head to Karaka lobster for a crayfish lunch owned by local family who are a 3rd generation fishing family who catch the crayfish that Kaikōura is named after and famous for. After lunch, we will depart and your pilot will give your guests a personal tour of the damage caused by the devastating 2016 Kaikōura Earthquake where they will be shown large landslides, rivers that have been diverted by fault lines, and other interesting sights before the conclusion of the experience.
