Soave lies 19 miles (30 kilometers) west of Verona and 64 miles (103 kilometers) west of Venice. The village can be accessed from the A4 motorway, which runs from Milan to Venice, and it’s also possible to arrive via the 130 bus from Verona Stradone Scipione station.
Although Soave is lovely any time of year, the autumn harvest season is particularly scenic. The annual harvest festival occurs during the third week of September, and during this time the hillsides are aglow with fall colors.
Soave is a dry and light-bodied wine known for its melon and citrus zest flavors, and its taste typically improves with age. Made with the area’s indigenous garganega grapes, Soave wine may be blended with a small amount of chardonnay, trebbiano, or other white grapes. Soave Classico and Soave Superiore, produced around the village of Soave itself, are considered some of the finest Soave wines.
