Even though El Roc de Sant Gaietà was built in the 60s, it's still home to the Roman-Greco attraction Arc de Berà. Visits to the village tend to focus on its pretty coastal scenery and sandy beaches. Day tours from Barcelona to Tarragona and Sitges regularly make a 1-hour pit stop here, which is enough time to appreciate views of its whitewashed houses and wander into a cozy courtyard or two.
Aspiring or practiced surfers may find El Roc de Sant Gaietà an appealing destination, as there are several local beaches and a surf school.
Visitors will find multiple parking areas around the village’s marina, a short walk from the El Roc de Sant Gaietà’s main attractions.
The public pedestrian paths near the village’s waterfront often have small multiple-stair steps that connect them, sometimes without an accessibility ramp nearby. Visitors with wheelchairs or strollers may run into issues as a result.
Public transport options to El Roc de Sant Gaietà are limited and imperfect, as the small village does not have a train station. You can take the regular bus from Tarragona to the Arc de Berà or the train from Sitges to Sant Vicenç De Calders station and then get a bus in El Vendrell. Renting a car to drive yourself is a much quicker and straightforward approach.
Like so many places on the coast between Barcelona and Tarragona, expect high temperatures and crowds when visiting El Roc de Sant Gaietà between June and September. Unless you’re planning to sizzle at the beach, the spring months of April and May are better suited for pleasant strolls around the village. Even visiting in November and December is possible thanks to mild winters.
