The basics

Just a short drive from Las Palmas, the botanical garden is often included on sightseeing tours of the city and Lanzarote’s north. Inside, you can stroll beneath towering palm trees and explore gardens with names such as the “Garden of the Islands,” the “Garden of Cacti and Succulents,” the “Laurel-leaved Forests,” the “Macaronesian Ornamental Garden,” and the “Hidden Garden.” More than 500 plant species endemic to the Canary Islands are cultivated in the garden, along with more than 2,000 cacti and succulents.

Lanzarote’s parks and nature spots

You don’t have to travel far in Lanzarote to find natural wonders. Discover the lunar landscapes of the Los Volcanes Natural Park, marvel at the ancient volcanoes of Timanfaya Nacional Park, or discover the volcanic vineyards of the La Geria wine region. Other popular sites include the unique volcanic caves of Jameos del Agua, the black-sand beach and salt farms of Janubio, and the white-sand beaches of Graciosa Island, just off the north shore of Lanzarote.
