How to get there

The Honolulu Museum of Art is located at 900 S. Beretania St. in Honolulu, just off Interstate H-1. Paid parking is available behind the Honolulu Museum of Art School (with entrances on Beretania Street and Young Street). Several buses also stop near the museum, including routes 1, 1L, 2, and 11, and the Waikiki Trolley Red Line.

When to get there

The museum’s opening hours are Wednesdays through Sundays from 10am to 6pm. The museum is closed for New Year’s Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The museum offers many events and experiences, including HoMa Nights on Friday and Saturday evenings, with live music, drinks, bites, and hands-on art experiences.

Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design

Also part of the museum is the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design. Housed in the former home of heiress and philanthropist Doris Duke, the museum houses a collection of Islamic treasures, including Iranian tiles, Indian jewelry, and a wood-paneled room from Damascus, and offers fantastic views of Lēʻahi Head.
