Vi använde den här appen för att turnera hela ön. Det är ett bra sätt att göra en egen guidad tur i din egen takt och lära dig mycket samtidigt. Vi hittade flera dolda ädelstenar som vi inte skulle ha känt till om det inte var för appen. Jag är inte säker på varför men någon gång skulle den spåra vår plats men inte utlösa kommentaren när den borde. Jag var tvungen att starta kommentarerna manuellt. Vi älskade musiken.

This was the best investment I made as part of my trip planning to the big island. It allowed us opportunities to see many places on the island that we would have passed without the guide. The stories shared on the tour is also something you don’t get from many guided tours. I can’t wait to try some of the other state tours.

Don’t use if you’re on a solo trip or don’t have someone who can troubleshoot the app for you

I was really excited to try this way of touring as it was economical and offered some flexibility. I would not recommend this option for solo travellers or if you are travelling with someone who can’t manage your cell phone by reading the map or instructions. Our first day was completely a write off unfortunately. We went to the starting point followed the instructions and was travelling through downtown Kona and skipped a couple of stops recommended to take pictures but when we made our first stop and got back on the road the app led us off track and in fact somehow we got to the end of tour after losing a couple of hours going in a circle. We tried again to pick it up from another point but it still had us confused. I was traveling with my daughter and she was not able to figure it out and since she couldn’t drive we had to abandoned the app and never used it beyond the first day sadly.

Really positive experience with the app. Only negative is that we had a couple issues with the South Island Epic Coastal Journey and thought it was a bit too long, but the Volcano National Park Driving Tour worked just fine.

This is honestly such a fantastic experience! Very much worth the nominal fee for all they curate for you. Rather than drive around aimlessly, the narrator provides historical information and tells you the must-stop-and-see items and those you could just drive by. Of the five tours, we did three and they were all done so well. It was just my husband and I and we loved the flexibility of pausing when we wanted and going at our own pace. We commented several times that we would take the time to leave a good review. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! You won’t be disappointed!

Your own personal tour guide in your car!

The Shaka tours are fantastic! Very easy to use, synced my phone to the car and we were all set! The narrator on the program was great, very interesting with a lot of information, stories and great advice. The turn by turn instructions made getting from one location to another location very easy and the on screen map showed you where you were at and where the next attraction was going to be. Using the phone GPS the program knew exactly where you were at, and you could jump into the tour at any location and everything would sync up perfectly. I highly recommend these tours to anyone visiting Hawaii, great to use if your other plans get rained out!

The handicapped van we rented did not have auxiliary jacks. (Cigarette lighter only). Who uses those anyway.😳. I was going to plug my phone in once we got going. The uploading of your program took more than half of my power that was left. Our 1 day out and about on the island we heard about 7 minutes only Not your fault. But I’m out my $19

Helpful but glitchy

The historical information was fantastic and covered a lot of things. However, the app is a bit glitchy. We had to watch closely for signs because he doesn't tell you to turn until after the turn. Also stories seemed to randomly cut off and another one started. If you stray off the path it's difficult to get back to the tour. We liked the narrator's voice though and now refer to him as Hawaiian Daddy.

A Great Alternative

Great way to see the island at your own pace...plus the price is a bonus! We really enjoyed this tour as I was originally viewing local island tours in the range of $300+/pp. Not only are you at the mercy of the tour guide, we often feel like we stay much longer than we prefer at destination stops. The audio tour was informative and easy to use. Plus we skipped by the spots we had no interest in staying. Be prepared to travel for the alotted time that is indicated on the tour as it is pretty accurate.

Shaka Audio Tours Rock

We had rain for a few days and Shaka Tours was our ticket to get to sites, a car ride away. The audio tour narrator was knowledgeable and humorous. He shared great stories and I learned quite a bit of Hawaiian history. Most sites were nearby, with parking, so it was awesome, even in the rain. We did tours in full sun too and I have to say, stops were well worth the time and effort to see them. Lava tube caves, miles long. Waterfalls. Beaches. Historic sites. Volcanos. This has it all!

These self guided tours were fantastic. Liked how flexible they were, the added information for restaurants and what to spend time on and what not to. Two suggestions: you need to give more notice on upcoming turns and maybe offer landmarks to look for the turns. Second, the south island tour is too long. You should take Kona and the beaches before Kona out of it. Definitely so not include the volcanoes in the south island tour. There's no way of doing the whole tour in a day. Otherwise, this was the first time using the app and thought it was fantastic.
