Utmärkt guidad tur!

Vi tillbringade vår jul i Cairns och förutom att gå till barriärrevet besökte vi också Kuranda. Tyvärr hade vi väldigt dåligt väder med elektriska stormar som orsakade att linbanan stängdes. Men detta problem kompenseras mer än av vår Tour guide Michael Stanley som tog oss på en turné till Trinity Beach berättade allt om historien och. Efter Trinity körde Michael oss upp till Kuranda Scenic järnväg där vi har haft en fantastisk tur genom regnskogen ner till dalstationen. Landskapet och själva tåget med vagnar konstruerade för nästan hundra år sedan var en upplevelse i sig själv. Vår familj åtnjöt denna dag, mycket tack till Michaels utmärkta kunniga vägledning och vård. Alla de bästa Michael!

Loved Bird Sanctuary.

I loved bird sanctuary. The koala gardens and town was not spectacular. Michael our tour guide made sure that we had our tickets and knew what to do. Not enough time to go to Butterfly world. Stay away from the Kuranda Hotel for coffee. It took 25 minutes to get a coffee to go

Easy way to see Kuranda Rainforest

Easy & beautiful way to explore Kuranda with all transportation with train up and Skyrail down. Michael is a very engaging tour guide, coordinating schedules closely and easily. Saw & fed wallabies, koalas, and kangaroos at Kuranda Village. Saw an amazing Cassowary up close in the rainforest on the Skyrail down!

It was unfortunate that we were not able to do the train trip to Kuranda due to heavy rain. It was one of the things we were most looking forward to. Michael the tour guide did his best to make the trip to the Kunanda by bus interesting and informative. At least he did not cancel the whole trip. The markets at Kuranda were okay as was lunch at the pub, nothing to rave about but an enjoyable outing. The sky rail trip back was excellent. I am extremely scared of heights so to do it was quite a real challenge but I did it no problems. The stop offs on the way down were great and gave me confidence that I could do the trip.

Fantastic day on the railway great way to experience the wonderful rainforest and waterfalls. Kuranda station full of lovely shops and eateries and heading back down the mountain in the skyrail really topped off a great day.

Michael was great at communication prior to and during the trip so that everything went smoothly. Great scenery along the way up on the train to Karunda. Plenty of choice of things to do whilst there, enjoyed the river trip and even saw a baby crocodile. The cable car down was great being able to get off at various points to walk in the rainforest. Back mid afternoon.

Good Time

Took this tour as an alternative to a cruise ship tour, glad we did, we had a small mini bus of about 10 persons which was more enjoyable than the larger coach tours and got some personal help from the operator when one of our team suffered a knee injury prior to our arrival by supplying a wheely walker for the day. Very good day out. Cheers

Micheal efficiently arranged the train and cable car journeys for us. All the information we needed was provided and he gave us an amusing and informative commentary on the way back from the cable car. He didn't accompany us so we were each able to choose how we wanted to spend our time once we got to Kuranda. He was on time for both pick up and drop off.

Sky rail was a great experience as was the train. The views were amazing from both. If you can, train up and skyrail down. Loved looking around the market. Have a good look before purchasing because prices differ greatly. Michael from Cairns custom tours was very funny and showed us a Golden Orb spider.

Rushed trip, less fun , more stress.

The entire trip was rushed as we were given strict timelines and very less time to enjoy activities in Kuranda or shop in the local shops there. We just had an hour between the arrival and departure in Kuranda , so we could only visit butterfly garden and grab a quick take away lunch and run back to our bus.

My itinerary for this tour allows 1.75 hours in Kuranda. The 9.30 train you travelled on from Cairns arrives in Kuranda at 11.30. You then have free time. Skyrail is booked at 1.15pm with an hour and 25 minutes allocated for that journey. The strict timeline you describe is called an itinerary. No one else on this tour felt rushed. If you wanted more time I have another itinerary taking Skyrail and then the train. This itinerary allows 2.5 hours in Kuranda. If you want even more time you could have travelled with a different tour company. As of end of October 2023 I commenced using the 8.30 train, this leaves 1 hour earlier and gives customers more time in Kuranda.

A must do for all ages

Train up, skyrail back. Very interesting journey, the history, the scenery both ways is magnificent. Couple of stops on the way for more photo opportunities. Highly recommended. The pick up drop off hotel service is a bonus.

Michael is very kind and did a great job at organizing the excursion. He was prompt for scheduled pickup and had everything readily available as far as tickets were concerned. Gave us a thorough run through on how to navigate the excursion from beginning to end. I loved the ease of not having to research the train and sky rail booking myself and having it all done for me. Well worth the price. Due to a delay on the train at one of the stops, we had very limited time in Kuranda. We did still make it to our 12:30 reservation for the koala encounter which we booked separately in advance.

Hi Shantel, I'm sorry that you thought the amazing story of the Kuranda Scenic Railway was boring. Perhaps you didn't listen to the narration on board or lift your eyes away from your smartphone to appreciate the amazing scenery and world heritage listed rainforest that you travelled through. The Kuranda Scenic Railway has been internationally recognised as an engineering achievement.
