Sevärdheter och platser man inte får missa i Katmandu

Vi tog en guidad, privat rundtur på UNESCO:s världsarvslista i Katmandu. Det var långt, men definitivt värt det. Vi fick spendera en till två timmar på var och en av sex platser. Jordbävningen 2015 påverkade en betydande del av Nepal, särskilt Katmandu, som dödade många och förstörde många strukturer inklusive de sju världsarvsplatserna. Otroligt nog har de under de senaste åtta åren byggt om många av strukturerna, inklusive de sju platserna, som har funnits i århundraden, om inte årtusenden. Återuppbyggnaden är en långsam och mödosam process, mycket med bärgade material, men också nya material inkorporerade för att matcha det gamla. Resultaten har varit utsökt. De har fler av dessa som ska rekonstrueras. Vårt första stopp var vid Kathmandu Durbar Square, som är det historiska hjärtat av Nepals livliga huvudstad. Ett spektakulärt kluster av palats, gårdar och tempel som visar upp Mallakungarnas arkitektoniska och kulturella storhet. En gång i tiden var det här nepalesiska monarker kröntes. Idag är det värd för ceremonier och festivaler. En av juvelerna är Kumari Ghar, hem för den levande gudinnan Kumari, en ung flicka utvald att representera gudomen Taleju. Tyvärr eftersom det var en lördag kunde vi inte se Kumari. Nästa stopp var Swayambhunath Stupa, Aptemplet, på en kulle med utsikt över Kathmandudalen. Som en av de äldsta och mest vördade religiösa platserna, dess vita kupol och glittrande gyllene spira prydd med Buddhas vaksamma ögon. Stupan representerar en blandning av buddhism och hinduism. Sedan begav vi oss till Patan (uttalas Patton) Durbar Square som ligger i hjärtat av den antika staden Lalitpur. Det inkluderar storslagna palats, intrikat snidade träfönster och heliga tempel. Torget var en gång Malla kungarnas kungliga palatskomplex. Det inkluderar Hiranya Varna Mahavihar, Mahabouddha-templet och Patan-museet. Museet hade några av de vackraste, århundraden - gamla artefakter från de buddhistiska och hinduiska aspekterna av Nepal. Nästa på resplanen var Bhaktapur Durbar Square, som inkluderar palats, innergårdar och tempel från Malla-dynastin. Omringad av en uppsjö av böneflaggor och brummandet av bönehjul är Boudhanath ett livligt nav för tibetanska buddhister. Mittemot stupan ligger ett vackert tibetanskt buddhistkloster. Best tour to experience so many UNESCO sites

Covers a lot of areas in a day

The temple areas were the most impressive and worthwhile to see. The history of the squares was interesting, but probably not worth the entrance fees. Our guide was a history student and very knowledgeable. While we couldn't see certain areas as foreigners he knew how to get around so we could get a glimpse of Hindu traditions. A great tour if you want to see everything.

Its a very busy tour where you learn a lot. Our guide was okay, but we couldn’t communicate too well. Since its not entirely private you cant freely shop or have a coffee on the way.

Awesome tour of Kathmandu highlights

This tour was the perfect way to see the UNESCO sites in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur! Our guide, Rajan Dhakal, was well-organized, knowledgeable, and took great photos of us. It was awesome to have this tour (verses taking a cab between the sites) as we enjoyed learning the stories of the various monuments as well as the best time of day to visit each. Rajan even worked out for us to get a special glimpse of the living goddess in Kathmandu and provided local food recommendations. The car was very comfortable and clean and the driver was great as well.

A beautifully executed tour that allows you to see all 7 UNESCO sites in one day

Truly memorable tour! Privan is a fantastic guide who always looks out for his customers. He allowed me to spend as much time as possible at each site. Going in December, in the morning was a great decision due to the fact that most of the heritage sites weren’t crowded. For those that were, it was such a beautiful, cultural experience. My favorite place was Swoyambhu Mahachaitya (monkey temple). It sits on a hill that allows you to see the entire town. I highly recommend this tour, especially if you’re with a loved one, or loved ones who prefer private time, with plenty of time for pictures! Thank you, Privan! Hope to see you at Everest next year!

Wonderful tour and history of Kathmandu

Had a wonderful all day tour with Ram, who was so kind and knowledgeable. It was an excellent day seeing all the world heritage sights and learning the history of Kathmandu. Even during the rains, Ram waited it out with us and helped keep us dry. Our driver was also excellent at navigating the tricky and crowded roads of Kathmandu. Would highly recommend this tour and Ram as a guide!!! Thank you!!!

Everything in the tour was really good ,, Ram was my guide and he was very knowledgeable and very informative.. we did all 7 UNESCO world heritage sites .. not too crowded. Many temples and many amazing architecture on them .. wish the entry tickets were included on the sites .. this was an expensive tour .. plus we had to pay for all the entries .. add on more expenses.. Thank you for my informative tour to all the sites !!

Ram was an amazing tour guide and was extremely knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this tour. We learned a lot about each of the different temples and the highlight was seeing all the monkeys interacting. Ram also personalized our tour to our needs. Thank you Ram (and your expert driver!)

Was a big day of sight seeing Kathmandus most amazing sites. Tour was excellent and our guide Ray was awesome and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend, for a easy way to experience Kathmandu in a day. His lunch suggestion was also really good!
