Almost impossible to tell where stops are for these routes. Also still not sure what the routes are as they seem to randomly vary from those on the route maps! DO NOT use mobile tickets; they cannot cope. Print your ticket. Commentary sketchy, repeats itself a lot and doesn’t always tie up with where you are! Have used hop on hop off all over the world but this was not the best experience. There are 3 companies doing hop on hop off in Malta and I wouldn’t use this one a second time.

48 hour hop on plus harbour cruise

Initially changing booking to actual tickets was challenging. Instructions stated buses would accept printed ticket confirmation but this wasnt so and we had to get actual tickets from Sliema Ferries or Valletta Waterfront. This meant a 24 hour delay as although we went to Sliema to change to tickets we were then told had to go to Valetta!!. These are not the instructions Viator tours gave us on original email. Eventually we managed to change printed copy to actual tickets with ticket instructor on the Harbour Cruise at Sliema, 24 hours after originally trying to start tour ☹️ ( original mobile email had expired !). We then enjoyed Harbour cruise, North and South tour over the 48 hours but as we exchanged ticket confirmation on boat we had to do everything within 48 hours which was a rush ( u wd normally get 48 hours over 5 days but due to incorrect Viator instructions we were set to boats ticket restrictions) Commentary on majority of buses not working but the actual tours were good and despite initial issues we would recommend tour but Viator needs to update City Sightseeing rules as buses will not take confirmation tickets ( actual or mobile).

Lack of information, conflicting information and no information

I tried to contact the company through Viator. No answer. The evening before my cruise I found a booth selling trips from this company. The guy who was selling the trips recommended me to start by taking the cruise (he was wrong, the cruise can be taken at any time during three days after activating the ticket). I started with the cruise. Then the captain of the cruise told us that the bus station next to the final stop on the cruise was not in service due to some road work and recommended a 20 minute walk to the nearest red station. I went there. The bus was not on time but I managed to take the red route and have a separate boat trip (at 10 euros) to the blue grottos. Nice. Then on the bus again but now the driver did not want to accept my viator ticket (I ended up getting on board, though). I swapped to the blue line after the grottos, in Valletta city center. Managed almost the blue line when the bus broke down and we were told that another bus would come in 20 minutes (It took more). The bus driver had told me that I´d have to take public transportation from St. Paul in order to get on my hotel in Sliema. That was wrong as well. But I ended up getting to Sliema by the bus that came when the one I was on broke down.

Not worth the money or effort

Very disorganized. It felt like bus driver did not know what was going on and at the same time were very rude to passengers. Total waste of time, with a two day pass we were able to see two attractions. Find an alternate method of traveling around Malta.

Not on time - over 45 mins late per their timetable. Totally disorganised when scanning people's tickets - took nearly 1 hour before the bus even left the kerb. Whyyyyyyy ???? Lack of communication between staff - their bus drivers - customers

Helpful, But Limited in Value

I took the South Tour and from the point I boarded the bus until the end of the round trip, it was about 3 hours, not counting the one stop I made at the temples. Note that this company has a stop at the Limestone Heritage Gardens, but the other company (the blue bus) does not stop there. Unfortunately I had planned to stop there on this trip, but the driver said they were closed on Mondays. When I checked later, their website said they were open every day, so I missed my chance to see this site, which was highly recommended. The value of the bus is that it makes it easier to visit the one or two sites you are interested in visiting because it is so difficult to get around the island without a car. Once you have visited maybe two sites or even three if you are quick, there really isn't a lot of time to see much else since the buses stop running by late afternoon. Maybe a two-day ticket might be a better value so you can spend more time at the sites of greatest interest.

We chose the hop on hop off thinking it would be a great way to see the city. Unfortunately, it was pure chaos. There was no organization, we were pointed in the direction of the bus stop by the lady we checked in with, we stood in a long line and made our way to the front just to find out we found we were in the wrong line. We made it to our stop, went and roamed for about 30 minutes, and headed back to the bus stop so we could head to the beach. We made it to the bus stop 15 minutes before the bus was scheduled to arrive, after watching the city hop on hop off come and go for an hour we chose to buy tickets for that bus. Everyone was asking the hop on hop off gentleman where the bus was, he had no answers. As we were leaving on the other bus, we saw the bus we were supposed to get on. Because we had waited so long we were only able to head back to the port and did not get to see any of Malta.

We had bought our ticket on line before we left home. In fact this was a mistake as being on a cruise liner it would have been much more convenient to buy it from the Sales people selling tickets as you got off the ship as the bus took you straight from the ship whereas we had to walk to another stop to collect our bus. The staff were rude and it was complete chaos getting on the bus, our first bad experience with the Hop On Hop Off bus.

THE WORST. If you are considering a hop on hop off, do the other one!!!! DON'T do CITY Sightseeing. It took 40 minutes to even GET a bus. First, our bus clipped a parked car and took off her mirror. Then, for an unknown reason, when we FINALLY stopped for the first time, a guy came on and told us we had to change busses. THEN, when we finally got going again, the bus seemed to have no suspension. The back hit the ground whenever we hit a dip. It was awful. The driver drove SO FAST and we only saw like industrial areas. When we got off at the lue Grotto/beach area, everyone wished us luck! LOL Well, as it turned out, we needed it. While we waited for another bus to hop on,' TWO of the other company's came by. We pleaded with THEIR driver to let us on, as we only needed to get to the next stop, the Temples. Well, after we toured those, again, we waited and waited. And again, TWO of the OTHER company's busses came by. I CALLED our company and told him, and he said he would send a bus. Good thing I called! Anyway, we finally made it back, and then there was another issue. Anyway, DO NOT use this company!!!!!!

There are long waits between buses 45 minutes . What was horrible and unthinkable was being on the bus at 5 pm hoping to get to the end of the run and being told to exit the bus because his shift was over leaving 10 stranded passengers in the middle of nowhere and telling them a bus would be coming in 10 minutes which Never showed up. I waited 30 minutes. My title should read Hop On and get the hell off my bus. Sad but true. Too bad I cannot give a negative star.

the bus connects through to everywhere. But the buses do not run on schedule and if you are travelling in the off season then last bus is very early and you don't have a way to get back to Valleta.

Absolutely dreadful! You spend most of your day waiting for the correct bus to turn up as there are several different company's doing the same routes.This is not only confusing but frustrating, waiting in a queue then getting on the bus only to be told its the wrong one!. The biggest problem is the infrequency you have very little time for seeing the sights. The southern route last bus is at 2:30pm and the Northern 3:30.. The day before we used the service a driver from this company drove his bus into a tree! This resulted in several casualties and sadly some fatalities! We had paid for a 48 hour pass,but gave up after 3 hours and got a taxi back to our hotel. If you can spare the cash book a taxi to take you to the same places the bus visits, we did and it was excellent!

The hop on, hop off bus was nice. I just wish that the hours for the bus were longer so that we could enjoy the stops more. We were also unable to complete the north and south routes in full because we chose to get off the bus on some stops.

Used the Hop on Hop off bus 2 days, February 27 and March 1, this is a good way to see Malta. Due to heavy traffic, the buses were a bit late, maybe 15 minutes or more, in the more congested areas of Malta. Since I was there in the winter season, the buses didn't start running until 9 AM.
