A fascinating tour of the old town of Rhodes

We had the most amazing tour of the old town of Rhodes with our extremely knowledgeable, kind and experienced guide, Roula. Not only was she highly educated about the history of Rhodes, but she was very helpful with restaurant and shop recommendations. We highly recommend the tour!

Rhodes Disaster

You should get rid of this company, "HALF PRICE TOURS". They are just awful and I demand you return our $920.00 that we paid you for this "EXCURSION". The Company notified us the day before to NOT be late, but must be on time for 9:30 am. The guide, Rula, was more that 1 hour late, claiming she was doing another tour before ours. She was unprepared for our tour only having 4 maps to hand out to 13 people. We told her that we could not hear her due to the traffic and she told us she forfot her microphone and that she was used to working with groups on only 4 people. Out of 13 people in this group only 2 remained - the only 2 that the guide, Rula, spoke to. The rest of us left the tour because we could not hear her although we had already told her so. Her voice became a boring drone which finally drove us to give up the tour. When the Company asked why I thought the tour was "terrible" they said that maybe I should have let them know that I can't hear - HOW DARE THEY! it wasn't just me that couldn't hear her, that's why we left; so she could talk to the other 2 she spoke with.

Just book it and be pleasantly surprised!

We were cruise ship passengers in September and while we had an issue getting off the ship, the staff met us at the ship and escorted us to catch up with our group. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide, Roula or the small group of 8.This is our first time in Greece and really didn’t know that this historic town has now become one of my favorites places in Greece. Not for it’s beaches or the really cool Medieval City , but it’s historical roots in the Jewish religion that I never would have discovered thanks to our tour guide Roula. Her knowledge of Rhodes from the time of Colossus to the period when scholars from many religions gathered. There was a Rabbinical University in Rhodes and included a large Jewish population prior to the Nazi invasion. Understanding how moved I was by Roula’s knowledge of She spent her own time with us sitting in this historic synagogue sharing stories of its rich history. I am eternally grateful for sharing right before the Jewish Holidays. Whether you’re Jewish, Greek Orthodox or just curious to spend some time imagining what it must have been like during the Medieval times, Roula or any of the Guides will customize to make you as happy as I am.

Not Worth It

There was only 1 other couple on this tour, and our tour guide ignored us for the most part and spoke only directly to them. He’s also on the older side and his voice is not as loud and can be difficult to hear. From what we did catch, he was all over the place with his information. I’m sure he’s knowledgeable, but the delivery was poor, too broad, and jumped around all over the place. He spent 1 hour just talking in front of the church. We didn’t even go inside the gates for a long time. We ended up leaving mid tour. The attractions on this tour can be easily seen on your own more efficiently.

This was a fantastic day trip! “Small group” was just me and my husband which was nice. We got to really listen to the guide and ask lot’s of questions. We did this a day after arriving and was so glad we did. We got lot of information about the Old town and New town. The guide also provided many recommendations on food which we tried! She was right so good! Overall, worth it!

our guide Basil was first class ......extremely knowlegable re history of Rhodes He was a retired archaeologist and hence gave us an insight many of ruins in Rhodes old town ........He also had a very nice manner spoke perfect English .....I would advise to request him as your guide Greg and Corrinne Robinson

We toured OLD TOWN RHODES with Roula.......she was beyond fabulous met with her at the office and started at 10 am for a 5 hour tour....but by 3 pm she was eager to continue for as long as we could hold out She was warm, knowledgeable, and eager to have us learn as much as we could absorb...about the beautiful island of Rhodes We will return.....so much more to see and enjoy

Hotel pick up was on time, office was efficient, Strula was an excellent guide. Rhodes Old Town is beautiful and Strula gave us lots of history and information to enhance our experience. The pace was sedate to allow lots of photo taking and to soak up the atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Very knowledgeable guide who knew I had a special interest in the Hospitaller Knights of Rhodes and oriented her commentary accordingly. She was very proud to share her in depth knowledge of the history of the town.

We had a nice walkabout with Basel (sp?) during our cruise port stop. They will provide you with a google link to the meeting point (in a nice little shopping area with many coffee shops). It was about a 15 walk abs easy to find. We spent a fair amount of time by the waterfront, but then went into the medieval part of the city by the Templars palace. You can do a separate museum entrance if you have more time. Basel works with the Cultural office and has been educated extensively- so have your questions ready. His cat might also find you by the Templar palace as he lives near there lol. Wear good shoes as you are walking on stone pathways and it can be hard on your feet. Once our tour was over, he helped us choose a restaurant within the walls and we have fantastic pork gyros and a cannelloni. Lovely shaded area for a meal before we boarded the ship.

We spent 3 1/2 hours walking through Rhodes' Old Town with our guide, Sambeka. She was very knowledgeable and an excellent guide. We learned a great deal from her about Rhodes' history, which is fascinating and learned about most of the important sites in the city.. We did this tour on our first full day in Rhodes, which I definitely would recommend because we could better appreciate everything else we did during our stay after learning so much about the city on our tour. I would highly recommend it to others visiting Rhodes for the first time. We thought it was well worth the price we paid for it and a much better value than the tour we had in Athens before coming to Rhodes.

Excursion à Rhodes

Rod est une ville magnifique la guide parle en français que j'ai eu ce jour-là était très gentille elle nous a a expliqué beaucoup de choses intéressantes sur l'histoire de la ville. En revanche je m'attendais à une excursion à la journée au final je trouve que c'est assez cher pour très peu de temps en ville et j'ai donc préféré rester à Rhodes pour visiter par moi-même et rentrer par mes propres moyens plutôt que de rentrer avec le minibus. C'est dommage parce que le transfert est compris dans le prix que j'ai payé et au final je n'en ai pas profité au retour et du repayer le bus pour rentrer mais c'était ça ou je ne voyais pas grand-chose de la ville.
