Lonnie's a great tour guide. He's got tons of knowledge and shares it in a fun and entertaining way. The hour long tour was the perfect amount of time and allowed us to have time to walk around afterwards and explore on our own.

Lonnie was fantastic—knowledgeable, personable and you can tell he genuinely loves what he does. He weaves in so many interesting facts & stories the history books don’t tell you. I kept thinking I wish I’d had history teachers/professors like him growing up!

Highly recommend! A great tour to start your time in Williamsburg. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Trained and worked for Colonial Williamsburg and used to do the school tours so has amazing insight and stories along with history you won’t easily read in the brief plaques around the town. Can’t say enough amazing things! Book it!

The tour was great. Our guide was so knowledgeable and interesting. An hour was enough to get us started (for us, two hours would have been too long) and we still had time to do our own exploring. We came back the next day and entered from the Visitor Center and preferred that view better. To me, starting the tour from the merchant area would have been best.

This being our first experience in Williamsburg, my husband and I were very pleased to tour with Lonnie. We were a bit confused about where to park, and tried to reach out via the web site. Eventually we parked in the tavern’s lot, and realized later that a message was sent saying to do just that. But we didn’t need to worry. Lonnie was patiently waiting at the meeting point, though we were running late. Lonnie was engaging, full of stories that made the chronology of Williamsburg make sense. We appreciated our “private” tour, as we were his only guests on January 31, 2024.

Lonnie did an awesome job giving us an overview, making suggestions on what to see in a short time and recommendations for places to eat. This tour really set us up to better understand what the individual tour guides said during their talks in location.

It’s a joy to be with a guide who has such a genuine love for his subject. Lonnie took us down Duke of Gloucester Street while regaling us with historical facts as well as interesting tidbits about Williamsburg and its restoration.
